Autumn candle

This isn't exactly christmas, but I think you ladies might have some ideas.

I would like a lovely autumny scented candle to burn while I'm doing my Christmas planning. I'm more of a cheap and cheerful candle lover. I normally go for St Eval candles, but I was disappoinyed with my most recent one.

I've never had a yankee candle and wondered whether I should go for one, but there are too many to choose from. I am very rural and would need to order online.

Grateful for any advice.

My favourite Yankee Candles as the weather gets crisp and nights become darker are Warm and Cosy and Warm Cashmere. They are both so lovely. The Pecan Pie one is really strong and smells just like something is baking in the oven. I think YC have an Autumn Glow one but have no idea what it is like.

i love home bargains candles. £2.99 for a jar the same size as yankee! and they always burn right to the bottom. i’ve just bought a spiced apple one and a cranberry and fig one and they smell amazing. i buy the wax melts in the same scent to double the fragrance.

TheSeedsOfADream · 16/09/2020 18:07

YC Autumn Glow is lovely. It's perfect for that not quite time for one of the red Christmassy ones! Another one I love is woodsmoke and something or other or crackling wood. Grey/silver colour.

Go to tkmaxx firstas they do some American brands that are amazing. Ive got some apple pie ones and pumpkin but i like more foodie smells. Yankee are great too

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2020 19:24

Thanks everyone! Think I'll try one of the yankee candle ones and see how i get on.

Crackling Wood Fire is the one I was trying to remember.
I got my Autumn Glow last year on an Amazon daily deal- big jar, half price.

TinkersTailor · 16/09/2020 19:46

I bought the Yankee Candle home inspirations in Pumpkin Cider today and it smells beautiful.

Really cozy, warm and autumnal.

CeibaTree · 16/09/2020 20:32

Woodwick candles sound exactly what you are looking for- I had one last year called bonfire or fire side and it was amazing 🕯

IHeartSusanDey · 16/09/2020 20:56

Pumpkin Cider sounds gorgeous, as does the Autumn Glow one. Has anyone tried YC Campfire one? I'm pretty tempted.

IHeartSusanDey · 16/09/2020 20:58

Ceiba they sound perfect! I love fire scents. Reminds me of my childhood with a real fire.

The Woodwick ones crackle like a real fire too :)

I've found it, it was this one 🔥

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2020 22:53

Amazon have the Yankee Candle advent calendar for £18.99, free delivery with Prime.
Twenty four tealights, three of each of eight ‘Christmas’ flavours. I bought it to test which ones I liked. I have only tried three so far, but am pleased with the scents and their burn time.

Kote · 18/09/2020 14:56

Woodwick are amazing, I love the crackle! They are kinda pricey though. I always get them for a bargain at TK Maxx (though I'm in the US, not sure if they stock them there in the UK). I recently picked up the Autumn Harvest scent, it smells so good I can't wait to start burning it Smile

Poppins17 · 19/09/2020 13:53

I can wholly recommend the candles from Aldi... not the posh ones in boxes etc but the ‘jar’ ones similar to Yankee. I have the summer sands one and it’s a dupe for Yankee candle and it fills the whole house not just the room you burn it in. I think they were £3.99. I’m not sure what autumn scents they have but I can thoroughly recommend for a good quality, cheap alternative to Yankee.

MrsKingfisher · 19/09/2020 17:23

Do Woodwick candles have a good throw of scent?

Coldwinterahead1 · 19/09/2020 17:24

Home Bargains gingerbread candle is amazing. Really cheap aswell

Haggled · 19/09/2020 17:26

The White Company’s Fireside scent is amazing it smells like bonfires and marshmallows

dementedma · 19/09/2020 19:22

Big fans of Isle of Skye Candles here

Stompythedinosaur · 19/09/2020 21:17

I suspect Fireside is the candle I want, but it's a bit out of my price range.

I've just ordered an Isle of Skye candle (pomegranate and plum) to try. I hadnt heard of them before so thank you for the recommendation.

My autumn favourites are Yankee candle Witches Brew, or Shearer Candles Amber Noir

Stompythedinosaur · 24/09/2020 12:24

An update to this thread - I was very disappointed by the Isle of Skye candle which doesn't smell at all when lit.

Still waiting for my yankee candles to arrive, hoping to have more luck with them!

If there are any more suggestions I would love to hear them!

I adore Witches Brew from Yankee but so hard to get hold of. I've got 2 left that I savour. Ordered the Pumpkin Patch one - it smells lovely from sniffing it. Not lighting it until October. M&S do a light up Halloween candle as well that I love -
