Newly 1 or around 1.5? There’s a big difference between say a 12 month old and an 18 month old.

Most loved presents my DD received on her first birthday:
Walker
LeapFrog picnic basket
Fisher Price piggy bank
Touchy feely books
Stacking rings (she used to put them on her arm as bracelets 😅)

She also started to learn how to use a Scuttlebug around that age

MBM18 · 03/09/2020 06:19

She also liked the Peppa Pig bus that includes stacking blocks

Pop up play tent
Sand pit
Click clack track
Tunnel
Aquadoodle
Pull along puppy

Xylophone

Ribeebie · 03/09/2020 06:47

Play kitchen

Cozy coupe car

Get some things that will last them through the next year -the change in skills and how they play between a 1 and a 2 year old is huge!

Tuff tray can be used inside or outside for sand, water, messy play, small world, investigation and you can play under it like a den. Go on Pinterest for ideas

Megabloks or duplo

I've brought my will be one year old loads of tiny tots stuff from argos. It's like fisher price little people. Easy to hold, and room to grow into imaginative play. hes used to his older bro (3) toys so baby tots already purchased tbh

UselessInDisguise · 04/09/2020 11:03

Toys even

As a pp mentioned HUGE difference between 12months and 18 months. We bought this sort of bits for our ds during age 1-2. Intended to try and get things that would last as opposed to stuff that would only work for a few months.

Baby walker
Ride along car (he’s 4 and still plays on it. Best £12 we ever spent!)
Swing - we bought one which you can either have a baby seat on or a proper seat. Again 3 years later it’s still used!
Slide - you can get ones that collapse easily.
Toot toot. We had relatives add to it as well.
Play kitchen/food.
Playdoh
Crayons/colouring book/paint/brushes.
Scooter/scuttlebug (better for an older one than a younger one)
Pushchair and doll.
Ds loves toy cars so push along cars/wind up ones etc.
Duplo
We got a 3-in-1 trike which worked well, again something that grows well with child.
Books
Sandpit/water tray.
Bath toys.
Drums/keyboard/guitar. Ds had similar bits and loved them.
Tee-pee seems really popular/play tent.
Ball pit. You can get ones with basketball hoops/crawling tunnels etc.
Playhouse?
Stackable blocks? You can get soft ones for young children and wooden ones for older kids. Ds still plays with his.
Wooden puzzles/those ones where you put them in the gap?
Figures from favourite tv show
Soft toy.
Soft blanket for cuddling up on sofa.

DS will be one in October. Between birthday and Christmas, he will be getting:

Activity table
Tractor and trailer with animals
Happyland Farm
Happyland London Bus
One of those toys where you hammer the pegs
A fisher price games controller
Lift the flap books. (He doesn't really like the touchy feely ones)
Bath toys
Duplo or megablocks
walker with wooden blocks
Ride on toy
Toot toot garage
Crayons. Still debating whether paint is a terrible idea!
A backpack with reins

Like a PP said, I'm trying to get stuff that will bring on his development or last. He's not walking yet (not even cruising) so he might need to grow into quite a lot of it! I think I'll get outdoor toys in the spring/summer.
