My favourite Christmas market has been cancelled this year.

This year absolutely sucks and I'm so fucking over COVID and everything being ruined. It's usually the time of year I start to get excited but it feels pointless as no doubt it'll be shite this year anyway.

Just needed a moan.

@sapnupuas I should probably just go for 2020iscancelled and accept our fate now.

@sapnupuas I wouldn't have lost my job, as I worked in an NHS hospital pharmacy, but as my DH was shielding we're happy that I didn't have to go in. My Christmas thing is listening to carols and Christmas songs while baking.

@sapnupuas You'll be flying in from Inverness if you want the authentic MovinOnUp experience :)

Gutted that winter wonderland is cancelled (For DD's sake)Will still have a wander through Hyde Park to get from V&A to Liberty's. I wonder if there will be any random Victorian carousels dotted about this year?

(Winter wonderland is overpriced shit, but I still like to take the kids if we're in London)

I think the Ritz will still be open and Kew gardens too ......It's seeing Wicked I'm worrying about, I've seen it before but this trip is supposed to be DD's birthday present.

I really can't see Wicked happening, tbh. 😢 They've cancelled everything till the end of October here, and the fact that all the Cameron MacIntosh shows are cancelled for the rest of the year strongly suggests that everyone else will follow suit. It's rubbish.

I'm assuming nothing will be as it was and therefore anything that is is a bonus.

I was supposed to be going on a coach trip to Chatsworth House Christmas Market this year with my bff. She doesn't have much fun around Christmas (she's widowed with an ASD son who doesn't do anything for her and lives a long way from her family) so I was hoping that we could do a few fun things together but they're all cancelled. She loves Christmas so much and I just want to be able to make it special for her!
I suppose there's always next year.

Mizzler · 06/09/2020 19:06

I'm heartily sick of covid wrecking everything. We do lots of things like carol concert, santa train, Christmas market etc and I'm worried that we won't be able to do any of it.

We will do crafts and baking etc but I'm not having the same pre-Christmas excitement that normally starts to build at this time of year.

sapnupuas · 06/09/2020 19:18

I've decided that I'm going to go festive earlier this year.

If I can't do all the things I love, I'm going to do the things I can do over a longer period of time. I'm usually a strict December 1st kind of person but I'm going to watch films, and drink Baileys (my Christmas drink) and do baking from the first Christmas advert I see.

I don't think I'll put the decorations up early, but who knows?!?
