My eldest is 9 and has recently been asking that he would like an Xbox so we are thinking we will buy one as the main family present this year. We also have a 7 year old and 4 year old. I have absolutely no idea where to start! I think the last console we got was a Wii when it first came out years ago! Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I need to get? Help! Thanks x

The new Xbox Series X is coming out in November, it’s a jump in spec so if you can I would get one of those as it should last longer. If not the Xbox One X is a good console, it has more room than the Xbox one S so will be a little more.

Either way wait for November as the Xbox ones should come down in price (or people sell off there’s to buy the new series x).

I prefer to get games on disk if I can as they’ll take up less room on the console but the downloads are fine.

If he’s playing online then you’ll need an Xbox gold membership which costs about £30 a year).

If he likes minecraft then he’ll like Terraria. Rocket League is good fun too.

I wouldn’t get a 360 as you’ll be limited to older 360 games. They don’t make new 360 games anymore.

Looks like you are in luck - they are releasing a cheaper version alongside the Xbox Series X that comes out which will be £250 if you want to get the new console straight away and don't care about 4K www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-09-08-xbox-series-s-finally-revealed-priced-usd299
