Do you ask kids for their xmas lists?

Last child birthday is early September then we're clear (except for me at the end of november but dont really do much for my birthday) and as soon as her birthday is past I start sorting.

But the kids are older now, and less easy to shop for. The toy of the year is no longer an easy win, and their wants are more expensive.

Usually I buy a few "surprise" bits from Sept onwards and ask for lists mid to late october.

Mine are still young so they make their lists when the Smyths catalogue comes in late September. They redo this list about 10 times and I ask for the final list to send Santa in early November. I might try and get the final list a bit earlier this year maybe mid October.

Mine keep waffling on about wanting to do them, but haven't yet. I'll need them before the Nectar double up in November, so will ensure they're done before that point.

It was always something that happened during half term holidays.

My DD offered to do hers today!

My sons a late october birthday so normally when he says what he wants for his birthday he adds "or for xmas". So yeah. I may still get him to do a letter or browse through smyths catalogue but just pick 5 things so I can suggest to family or keep some budget aside for something. I'm pretty confident in my ideas for him and what I've bought so far so hopefully it will match up! X

My dc do them late Nov or early Dec. I dony encourage them to think about Xmas any earlier (though I do). I spend part of their budget on things I think they will want and I hold some back for their lists (quite often I've got some things on their list already).
