Starting early in case Covid overwhelms delivery services?

I went shopping on the high street today. It was awful! Long queues outside every single shop. It made me wonder how Christmas shopping will work? I won’t be doing my usual slog around a hundred shops because I can’t be bothered spending half the day queuing or wearing a mask for 10hrs. That’s not fun or festive! Today I gave up on the shops because the queues were ridiculous and I went home and ordered what I wanted online.

It made me wonder - if loads of people feel the same, we’ll all be trying to order online. Will delivery services be overwhelmed? In other words, should I do my shopping now? Is anyone else worried about possibly not being able to get presents if you leave it till Oct-Nov?

I've got pyjamas and a book for my DDs Christmas eve box in the sales. But that's it! I'm due to have a baby end of October so wont be out shopping with a new born in this climate which is sad. I am hesitant to buy anything for my DD who is 4 as she changes her mind a lot. Last year she said she really wanted a baby literally a week before Christmas and didnt stop going on about it 🤦‍♀️
I don't really know what to get my family this year either! They are all so difficult to buy for.

@mbosnz

I am also planning on being done by October. Got almost all the stocking fillers for 6 dc, a couple of their main gifts, one gift for mum and one for dad and one for dsis, Advent calendars and Christmas pjs done, christmas tablecoth, crackers etc all done. Started non perishable foods - shloer, mincemeat, baking supplies etc all stashed away. really hoping to be done in the next 2 months, fingers crossed.

Bloody hell! Have you thought of running for PM?! I think we'd be doing a whole lot better with you in charge!

LOL I do like to be organised!! I also work full time (NHS) and my job is getitng worse by the day so need to be well ahead this year! Grin

You are incredible mosscarpet. I'm in total awe, and feeling totes inadequate. (Any suggestions for where to look for Christmas PJ's?)

@Trumpton I got mine from Amazon ( Ive got silver) but I got them reduced in Jan.

mummyof2boys30 · 27/08/2020 13:03

I'm normally well under way by now but both want a Ps5 or a switch so holding off. They won't be getting much else though. I think I might just do vouchers for everyone apart from my niece and nephew

Morally I don’t think the stores can encourage the Black Friday instore sales this year either but hopefully there will be something online. I am already stashing things as I just want something to look forward to.
