Filler / General Presents

Every year I tend to buy 'filler' presents, these are things like dressing gowns, duvet covers, annuals etc. Things that can be bought in advance for all 3 of my DC (DD11, DS10 & DS8yrs) that aren't dependant on their Christmas lists.

I like doing this & the DC always seem delighted by what they get so I'm thinking what to go for this year.

They all got teddy bear fleece bedding last year & that was such a huge hit that they each asked for another set for their birthdays. Now each DC has 2 sets in different colours so I won't be buying duvet covers this year.

I'm thinking hoodies, dressing gowns & lego brickheadz so far & would love any other ideas.

They all get individual gifts & things off their Christmas lists as well Smile

Do they each have their own hot water bottles with nice covers?

Filler presents in our house are/have been:
Tub of Whittard hot chocolate
New pencil case
Gel pens
Nice towel for swimming lessons, sleepovers etc... - Matalan always has a great selection
Fingerless gloves
Bed socks
Crazy foam soap

My DC tell me they relied on my gifts of stationery - file paper and ring binders, pens and felt tips - as well underwear and socks , even when they were at uni.

A bit random but my mum used to get me and my siblings packs of batteries - always a life save when it came to sorting out our electronics! Something like that or chargers are always appreciated and useful. I remember we complained when one year she didnt include them haha x

Water bottles (chillys style), flasks, toiletries including shower stuff/bath bombs/hair stuff, slippers, headphones, a fancy cake mix box or stuff for decorating baking, seeds. Not sure if any of that will be any good. We usually do imported sweets/chocolate too.

Thanks for ideas so far Smile

They all have lovely hot water bottles - Hedwig, Dinosaur & Thumper courtesy of Primark.

Brilliant idea about swimming towels, they've been using their current ones for a couple of years so will have a look now.

Stationery is always popular here too, I've got DS8 some crayola super tips & DS10 some minecraft pens might look for something a little more grown up for DD11 who's off to secondary school in September, maybe a fountain pen? Hmm...

Have also added 2 extra long phone chargers & rechargable batteries to my list.

Always get some bath bombs & fluffy socks, perfect stocking fillers.

In case it helps anyone else mine loved inflatable toys, one year they had a guitar, flamingo & monkey. They cost £1 each & were played with for months! Also glow in the dark stickers were great a few years ago.

A couple of years ago I got DDs drawstring toiletry bags.. massive hit for sleepovers, Cub camp, etc.

We do for fillers, things for the room, blankets, hot water bottles, character cushions, duvets.
Then new mugs, hot chocolate, popcorn set, waffle or doughnut markers.
Any hobbies, made in to hampers, cooking, stationary, craft, could do ballet, football, music.

I'm doing mine a photo book each with funny photos this year, my youngest her own special bowl for noodles and some chopsticks and lots of beef/back noodles (her favourite food in the world, it was the inspiration for most of our homelearning 😂).

Other ideas - a scrapbooking kit - book/washi tape/glue dots and little embellishments. Poundshop is great for that sort of stuff! Could do photo frames too. Funko figures of favourite fandom - my eldest collects simpsons, Harry potter, adventure time, five nights at freddys and more!! Portable charger pack, phone/kindle/tablet cases, gloves, hats, drinks bottles/lunch boxes, tote bag if they are going out shopping on their own, swim/pe bag, notebooks, diary, big pack of sharpies, swim towel/new swimwear, bubble wands, garden toys, silly games or travel games if you go out alot, cushions for bed.

Mine are also 11 and 8 this year and we have so many covers and hot water bottles but they always want another 😂 another thing i always buy a snowglobe or ornament for their room. Last year was lovely moneyboxes.

OP dd is also 11 and bought herself a fountain pen off Amazon with birthday voucher. She absolutely LOVES it, and got herself a set of black cartridges for normal use, as well as a multi coloured set of cartridges.

PhantomErik · 06/08/2020 09:19

Thanks daisy my order of a fountain pen for DD just arrived Smile
