Where to go next year?

So, after the third Christmas in a row of being completely ignored (and now even sent out of the room for hours with the excited puppy) I've decided we need to get away next year. I don't want to drip feed; am a single parent and my dad visits one weekend once a month and plays endless amounts of computer games with my 8yo. It's bad enough for 2 days once a month but for 4 days over Christmas breaks me. I'm bored and lonely. Yes I've told both of them this three times today, which does zero other than ensure 8yo will decide at 10pm it will be my bed they want to get into and "chat" (i.e muck about until I snap). I probably sound very ungrateful but I just miss chatting and would actually like to laugh one year. I'm sure I'll get a lot of posts about standing up for myself and challenging my dad's behaviour as the only other adult. I have tried so so many times to do this - asked him to not play games on screen with her, to support me when I need him to rather than backing her up...he doesn't get it and hasn't ever taken these discussions on board.

What I imagine is a room full of people all happy and playing board games/singing/having drinks/eating - the usual - but it needs to be dog friendly. Can anyone recommend anywhere (I'd rather not do more Centre Parcs).

And if anyone has any ideas on how to get Alexa to play what you bloody ask for rather than "suggesting" a new channel or music you did not ask for, that would be great. You'd think with AI you might get a bit of complicity at least! Wink
