What soup?

I somehow managed to agree to make some sort of soup for Christmas Day starter at DPs parents... I don't know why I did that as I don't cook.

Now I am looking for an easy ish but impressive soup to make? Suggestions please

Not sure how you spell it but bortch, beetroot soup with cream...mmmmmm

Pumpkin and sage. Reserve some sage leaves and fry them off in butter before you serve the soup and add then as a garnish.

Buy something nice from M&S and pass it off as your own

Spiced parsnip - easy but nice.

Delia's christmas book talks about Celery soup with blue cheese.

Soup is easy. Try a spiced parsnip soup with a bit of cream. Tasty and simple.

Something about soup with cheese in makes me feel a bit (not envy) for some reason.

The parsnip and cumin one sounds quite nice...

Have you got a hand blender? If not I'd buy (M&S spicy tomato and lentil is good). If you've got a blender, broccoli and stilton is very good. Google for a recipe. You can use frozen broccoli to make it even easier.
