Sheet of defrosted puff pastry, spread with tomato purée with added oregano, then spread with pesto. Cut in half longways.Roll each up then slice each into small pieces. Cook for about 8 to 10 minutes. 170 fan.

Equally nice if you use Marmite and grated cheese . Do the rolling from the long edge.

CharlotteFlax · 18/12/2019 19:09

Bruschetta

Mushroom vol au vent

Deep friend mozzarella thingy (not sophisticated though!)

Ricekrispie22 · 19/12/2019 05:06

Caprese skewers
Mushroom pate on bruschetta
Cream cheese blinis
Guacamole and salsa bruschetta
Cheese straws
Feta and beetroot mini tarts

Shop bought pesto isn’t vegetarian unless it labeled that way.

Filo parcels containing mushroom (precooked) and cream cheese, or brie with mango chutney.

Min pizza - just get a cheap supermarket pizza and use a cookie cutter to make small ones.

One to make about a week earlier, get a jar, an old jam jar is fine, fill with layers of sliced olives, mushrooms, peppers, capers and a single whole garlic clove. Top with olive oil and leave for a few days, serve in a dish with bread to dip in.

Mini 'kebabs' cocktail sticks with an olive a bit of sun dried tomato, feta cheese etc.

Vol-au-vonts - buy the pre cut pastry and use condensed mushroom soup to fill.

Melon balls on cocktail sticks.

Miniature cauliflower cheese, cut the florets small and serve on spoons or mini dishes. I have those 'amuse bouche spoons'

Courgette and coriander soup, chilled and served in a shot glass. Ditto gazpacho soup.

Cheese straws. Or non cheese, get ready rolled cheese pastry, 'butter' with Dijon mustard sprinkle with Parmesan for cheese or a mix of herbs and spices (paprika works well) for non cheese, score with a knife, back for 15 mins then cool and snap into straws. Or you could do squares but the straws can be dipped in to the soup if you make it.

Devilled eggs if you want a 1970s vibe.

Mini Yorkshire puddings (if you can get vegi cocktail sausages then these can be toad in the hole).

Japanese style rolled omelette.

Mushrooms stuffed with whatever you fancy, then add breadcrumbs and bake.

Mashed potatoes rolled in breadcrumbs and baked or fried as mini croquettes. You can add surprise fillings such as mushroom.

Stuffing balls.

Onigiri if you have the molds. Rice balls if you don't.

Guess what I like to make for parties?

ComeonGordon, shop bought pesto will not be not vegan but it will be vegetarian.

Actually ComeonGirdon is correct. Any pesto that contains proper parmesan is not vegetarian. There are veggie pestos in some shops but you need to check the jar

parsnip fritters

these are amazing, don't bother with the dip. no-one wants that.

I love a cheese straw too

Homemade olive breadsticks

Also shop bought croustades with hummus, a chickpea, and sprinkled paprika

Full retro vibe.

Loads of pestos have grana padano which also isn’t vegetarian. It’s a pain.

Zest pesto from Tesco is really nice, as well as being vegan.

WeirdPookah · 19/12/2019 17:38

If you want something classic try Tesco's vegan frozen sausage rolls. I honestly went back and checked the packet in horror thinking I had made a mistake, they are really good!

Thehollyandtheirony · 19/12/2019 18:21

Pickled mushrooms.
Salt and vinegar crispy chickpeas.
Mini portions of soup in espresso cups.

ComeOnGordon · 23/12/2019 10:19

I forgot I posted on this thread - yip any pesto that has Parmesan in the ingredients isn’t vegetarian as Parmesan has calf rennet in it which comes from the stomach of dead calves. I only learned this last year and had been feeding it to my veggie daughter 🤦🏼‍♀️ So now I want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake I did

TrickyD · 24/12/2019 12:42

Pesto now off our veggie menu! Thanks for the info.
