Just me dh and 3dcs on Boxing Day. Kids eat anything and I fancy something non-traditional but special. We won’t have any left overs as were at my brothers for Christmas Day. Just looking for some inspiration.

Salad, cheese, quiche, bread, cold meat, garlic bread, cous cous. A sort of indoor picnic

YahBasic · 18/12/2019 08:22

Homemade pizzas - last year’s favourite was a Christmas dinner one with turkey, pigs in blankets, roasted parsnips and cranberry sauce.

Apparently we hadn’t had enough traditional food!

MsJuniper · 18/12/2019 08:25

Leftover cold meat for non-veggies, jacket potatoes, bubble & squeak (ie leftover veg fried up), pickles.

Chocolate.

Leftover toasted sandwiches on sourdough with sweets for afters. Can't wait!

jakesmommy · 18/12/2019 09:02

Bubble and squeak, cold meats, pickles, yum. Enjoy this more than xmas dinner

kateandme · 18/12/2019 16:24

we have done different things.i know youve been away so you wont have the chrismtas meal.but we have got a smaller turkey in the past and still come home and cooked it to have our own family christmas meal when we got back.so there is that option.
we have done chicken and bacon pie
leg of lamb
stew and dumplings.
meat and potato pie

Fishcakey · 18/12/2019 16:26

Pork and crackling baguettes apparently! OH is cooking, I just eat what I'm given.

DuesToTheDirt · 18/12/2019 16:32

Fondue

Talcott2007 · 18/12/2019 16:37

Boxing Day Soup! (made with the left overs from Xmas day) alongside that will be a big cheese board with meat cold cuts different kinds of fresh bread. Basically all the sorts of things that you can pick at as and when you feel like it. I prefer the relaxed Boxing day to Christmas Day!

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 18/12/2019 17:37

Cheese cheese and more cheese.

BarbedBloom · 18/12/2019 17:42

We are having steak pie and leftovers from Xmas Day. Day after gammon and bubble and squeak.

FrenchyQ · 18/12/2019 17:44

Turkey bhuna.....my husband looks forward to this more than the actual xmas lunch

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 18/12/2019 17:45

We're at the pub all day on Boxing Day, so whatever festive options they have!

Deelish75 · 18/12/2019 17:59

Cooked breakfast
Ham rolls and salad for lunch
Steak pie, chips and gravy for dinner

Soosiesoo · 18/12/2019 20:49

Cooked Brunch of some description.

IL's over in afternoon for turkey curry, samosas, Naan breads etc along with dips and crisps and breadsticks. Mince pies and chocolate for afters. Bit of a mish mash 😃

All the leftovers sound great love the ham and bubble. I’ve gone for leg of lamb and twice cooked mash.

We have another full Christmas dinner, not using any leftovers it’s all cooked again from scratch... we will have a buffet on the evening.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/12/2019 23:40

Chinese Takeaway

SunshineAngel · 20/12/2019 23:50

One of my favourite bits about Christmas is the Boxing Day Buffet that we always have with leftovers and then added bits and pieces that different people bring.

My mum has decided this year that we're going out for a curry.

I 100% do not want to do this. We have plenty of food in the house, I could do without the expense of paying for a meal for me, DP and DSS, and on Boxing Day all I want to do is slob out - whether that's at home or at my mum's. Really don't want to have to get dressed up to go out for a meal!
