Stocking-fillers for an awkward 16-year-old boy please

I need to get a few bits and bobs for my best friend's son. His main present from us will be cash towards driving lessons, but his mum is struggling a bit this year and they have no other family, so I want to make sure he has a few surprises to open on Christmas morning. He's blooming awkward though - he has autism (very high functioning) and he's not really got many interests beyond the games he plays online. Not interested in books, music, fashion, toiletries etc., and he can't eat chocolate because of food intolerances. Any ideas for small quirky things that he might enjoy?

@HenSolo - thank you! Looking those up led me to the GCHQ puzzle books on Amazon, which would be something he and his mum could do together :)

@WhentheRabbitsWentWild - thank you! Blush

My High Functioning son adores fact books, quote books, puzzle boxes, top trumps. Maybe adopt a star for him.

I think we're sorted now - thank you all! Got a mug that I think will make him smile, a t-shirt with an engineering joke, Deadly Diseases top trumps, the GCHQ puzzle book, some boring waterproof overtrousers for his D of E trips (suggested by his mum), a keyring, and I found a Wallet Ninja that I'd bought him a few weeks back and forgotten about, so he'll have plenty to open.

I'd say food and steam vouchers.
