Sadly, just seen that the Book People have gone into adminstration. Just thought I'd mention it in case anybody was going to place a last minute order for Xmas like I was about to.

Very sad for all the staff there.

I saw this mentioned on another thread. I'm sad about it too although I've wondered for a while how sustainable their business model is.

I hope their staff won't be too awfully dropped in it. Especially at this time of year.

300 staff being made redundant :-( I think they lost a lot of custom when they started selling full price books as well as the discounted books as they were expensive and couldn't compete with the larger online retailers.

Oh what a shame. My daughter's school had their bus visit each term, she got a book each time and loved going on, chose her little sisters present on there too.

Love book people however I do find their emails annoying as they keep offfering discounts but very deceptive.

We've ordered so much from there for Christmas- mostly the box sets.

Website seems to suggest they are still trading?

They have some great deals but you wouldn’t go there to look for a specific book and with Amazon Prime being so convenient I do forget they exist. I have bought several children’s box sets from there. That’s a category where I’m happy to try whatever they have a good deal on. I’m more discerning in my own reading however and didn’t find a good price on a novel I wanted.

That’s so surprising, they do some amazing books for kids. I’ve had many amazing bargains from them over the last few years. I hope they find a buyer...

I ordered Sunday too and just had a despatch email. Thankfully not too much so if I don’t get them not the end of the world but I love them and always order a lot from them
