Christmas chocolate

Every year, we have bowls and dishes of chocolates dotted around. I usually opt for the larger tubs of roses, quality streets, heroes etc. This year though, they are not hitting the spot. The chocolate is a bit tasteless and the filling somehow all seem the same, soft and over sweet!
Any recommendations for chocolates? Ideally, individually wrapped as I like the bowls of bright papers. Also, not too expensive as I like people to feel free to help themselves to a couple and don’t want to break the bank!
Thanks

Aldi, Lidl or at the other end M&S

Happyspud · 10/12/2019 22:19

My Christmas chocolate indulgence is Baileys truffles. Hard to get hold of though!!!

Stravapalava · 10/12/2019 23:22

Lindor truffles. You can get the assorted boxes that have different coloured wrappers. Or buy a few boxes of the different flavours, they're usually on offer somewhere! Otherwise, if you're feeling spendy, you can go on the chocolate emporium website and do a Lindor pick & mix with all the foreign flavours too!

I recently tried Galaxy truffles and Malteser truffles, which were nice. Wrappers are pretty too. The Aero Bliss truffles weren't as nice though.

@Happyspud my local B&M had loads of Baileys Truffles today

katy1213 · 11/12/2019 00:18

Lindor are nice and shiny. There were big selection boxes in M&S today for £10 - not wrapped, though. Didn't look very exciting but nicer than Roses. If you like marzipan, Niederegger are pretty in shiny wrappings; I've seen them marked-down in TKMaxx. Polish shops are good for shiny-wrapped chocolates/liqueurs by weight; the chocolate can be bleuugghh, though.

Thornton's Moments.

I dont normally like Thorntons.
But these are nice, individual wrapped and cheap

Happyspud · 11/12/2019 07:58

@RockingMyFiftiesNot I know! I bought all 4 boxes I found there the other dayGrin

Lovemusic33 · 11/12/2019 08:13

Lindor, we have a shop that does pick and mix 😋. Also love baileys truffles but I don’t share those. Lidl’s do little bags of chocolates but they are not individually wrapped, they are nice though, much better than roses.

SillyUnMurphy · 11/12/2019 13:27

M&S do individually wrapped Italian inspired truffles but the wrappers have a brown and cream theme so not very bright. They are delicious though!

Orangecake123 · 11/12/2019 16:07

ferrero rochers.

The only thing I ever want for Christmas.

WeirdPookah · 11/12/2019 16:14

Another vote for Lindor. SO very very good!

milliefiori · 11/12/2019 16:15

Lindor truffles. They come in all sorts of flavours now.

Nan0second · 11/12/2019 16:17

Those terry chocolate orange minis are yummy 😁

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 11/12/2019 18:58

I love the orange Lindt ones. So Christmassy! You also really can't an After-Eight at Christmas, but they might look a bit odd in a bowl.

Gustavo1 · 11/12/2019 22:01

I might have to try each and every suggestion Xmas Grin

Ah, I have just grabbed a box of M&S salted caramel pine cones for my partner's stocking, because they are DELICIOUS but they are pricey and not wrapped, so no use to you at all.

I want to eat them now. Damn.

HeIenaDove · 11/12/2019 22:54

Baci Italian chocs with shiny silver or shiny bright blue wrappers depending on whether you go for dark or milk.

Stravapalava · 12/12/2019 09:52

I've revived this thread because I've just remembered you can get boxes of mini Ritter Sport chocolates, which are absolutely delicious. Maybe try those?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/12/2019 15:35

Thorntons (used to be called Double Cream Mints) like After Eights but a crunchy layer too , in shiney green foil.

The Malteaser Truffles in red wrappers

Gold and Silver chocolate coins

Ferrero Rocher (of course )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/12/2019 15:37

Oh , I have a box of M&S Cherry Liquers (dark red wrapping ) but they are not for sharing Xmas Wink
