How many lights for a 6-7ft tree?

I want a generous amount of twinkling light but not so much that it overpowers the ornaments.

I think the rule of thumb (if there is such a thing) is around 100 lights per foot and a half. Use 100 lights per 2 feet if you want them spaced out more or 100 per foot if you want really twinkly.

We have 400 on a 6.5ft tree and it’s ample- that’s what was recommended at the garden centre for 6-7ft trees. ( Bought an artificial one this year, never really taken any notice how many previously )
Previously we’d only only had 200 and it was never enough really although looked ok

I have 240 on a 7ft tree. But I only do the front of the tree, I don't wrap them around the whole thing if that makes sense? My tree is in a corner so it doesn't look weird.

Brilliant. Thanks everyone. Super helpful. I was worried that I would end up with a floodlit tree 😂 When all I wanted was twinkling! It’s a real tree but lots of dense branches v close together.

We have used 700 on our 6ft real tree and it looks fab. We used about 300 just on the bottom 1/4 as its so large and we had to do it in layers so there were lights right in at the trunk of the tree.

We have 2000 on ours lol tho only wee led ones

I have 720 on a 5.5ft. It doesnt look like there is too many, but they are wrapped around each branch, I'm going to hate myself when I have to take them off 🙈

I have 1000 on one string for a 7ft tree and love it
