Treats for yourself

Hi, this year I have bought all my presents and won't be receiving any for various reasons (some of our family have decided just to buy for kids and my other close family are buying an experience for each other which is great and cuts down on unwanted tat). I know it sounds incredibly sad but I would love to buy a few bits for myself. Anyone got any great ideas of little treats for yourself? Thanks.

Not sad at all. I will be getting presents from others and I’m still considering buying myself some treats! I have two little children so I rarely buy myself much these days. I second the above poster, maybe those little things that you want but generally think oh I shouldn’t waste the money. I might get some new jeans, a few books from a great second hand bookshop I love to browse in, a reusable water bottle with a pretty design. Treat yourself!

I've treated myself to a scented candle from Home sense and also a few bits from Avon during the Black Friday sale. Will probably push the boat out and use my Morrisons points to buy a bottle of something festive.

I've bought myself a pack of three fancy biros and a notebook for my handbag - Flying Tiger, no expense spared! Going in my stocking.

I also found myself a fluffy onesie for €15, DH bought himself something technical for his guitar €15, we'll wrap for each other. They'll kind of cancel the other out. I think it's good for our son to see us give each other gifts. We'll also be taking him out individually to buy something around €5 , ilof his choosing, so he feels the responsibility of buying a gift.

Gosh what waffle!

Yes, buy something for yourself, best if there's a wrapping service in the shop Grin

I've done this! Adults have stockings too in my house, so when I became a lone parent, I did my own. Previous things have included earnings, nice soap, perfume, nice chocolates, lovely overpriced socks. I even wrapped them, as stocking gifts are always wrapped.

I was delighted when I opened them! Grin I bought and wrapped early and had actually forgotten quite a bit of what was I there...

Not bought for ourselves but DH and I only do smallish gifts. I specifically asked for some big bottles of dr bronners rose soap/body wash. It's my favourite and the thought of using it everyday (& not share it with kids etc) makes me super happy. Also hoping for a few blocks of my favourite choc too and green Tabasco (my favourite ever condiment) - just for me to eat.
I've got him a couple of pairs of his favourite wool socks, new book &/choc orange and his fave choc and biscuits. Simple but Specific to own tastes!

How about doing yourself a Xmas box now with things in like nice perfume, pjs, slippers, chocolates and wine. By the time you come to open it on Xmas you may have forgotten some of the bits you bought and it'll be a nice surprise 🙂

I have bought myself a few things and given them to DH to wrap but essentially I bought them for myself so may aswell have just wrapped them too! I got perfume, make up and a mug that caught my eye, if I see anything else I like in the next couple of weeks I'll do the same again! I say go for it, there's no reason not to treat yourself as well as everyone else!

In the past couple of years we've started doing stocking for each other as well as dd. Last year I bought most of the stuff for them as dh was working crazy hours in the lead up to the day. In his I put a small bottle of port, his favourite beer, boxers, L'occitane shower gel, socks, toblerone, a science magazine, his favourite pens, cherry liquour chocolates (his fav), pork scratchings etc

I'll do very similar this year I think.

In mine I had a handcream, a body lotion, a small box of belgian chocolates, socks, knickers, can of G&T, magazine etc and will do the same again for me also, but DH will take care of mine this year.

We will have something small under the tree for dd to hand out for us to exchange, will prob get dh a jumper.

I think it's lovely to have a stocking to open on Christmas morning, especially if they're full of small indulgences.
