This years excitement inducing factor?

Each year we do something that builds an extra layer of excitement on xmas morning. We have wrapped the door in paper so DS had to burst through, chocolate coins down the stairs leading to the pile of presents etc. I suggested "snowy" footprints this year but DH is reluctant as it is too much mess.
Any other ideas we could steal please?

We have a rudolph name tag that “fell from Rudolphs neck” when he was eating the carrot on his treat plate.

Ah thats good! I did consider a bell from the reindeer.

One year we got a button from father Christmas' coat. It was from ebay, attached to a bit of ripped red velvet and went down really well

Santa’s button on fb but obviously you could easily make your own with a bit of red velvet and a nice gold button.

Santa's list with names and presents on it? Could be ripped where your children's names are so they can see they're on the list but not what presents they've got.
