Best Christmas tree topper

Looking for some inspiration because we’ve had the same (rather dull) star for many years and I’m looking for more of a showstopper! Young kids something really fun would be welcome! What do others have on their trees?

This year we have a sparkly hermit crab with red pouty lips. ‘Tis truly hideous and annoyingly allows DH to win the most tacky tree decoration competition for 2019.

I wired a star shaped paper lantern to the tree this year cause it was the perfect glittery orangey shade!

When did stars on the top of the Christmas tree become the norm? When I was little the normal thing was a fairy on the top of the tree and the star was seen as very much the second class option that you had if you weren’t lucky enough to have a fairy (speaking as the 7 yr old girl I was at the time and discussing with friends etc ).

So I would go with a fairy. I have a cuddly naked Santa-hatted fairy cherub flying at the top of my tree. She’s very cute - better than the description sounds!

Lobster sounds good though and they had some cute yetis in Sainsbury’s that could work well.

Fairy? I thought they were meant to be angels. Ours has a star, but I've never managed to find anything the right size to be in proportion to the tree without it being too heavy.

I've got a twine reindeer from the range and it's my favourite part of my tree!

We have an elf! He is wrapped around the top bit like he's using a fireman's pole, and is holding some jingle bells too.

We have a Harry Potter doll on the top of our tree . We did it one year as a joke and now it's tradition.

Haha some brillIant ideas thank you! Can’t imagine the crab 😂 but love original ideas! Yes I think an angel is a step up, the kids would be happy with that. Just wondered if anyone had something even better than an angel that I hadn’t thought of?! They love teddies/ knitted soft animals particularly so maybe I could find someone on Etsy to knit me a reindeer or something! 🤣

@kitk where did you get your unicorn from?

We had an ancient angel doll when I was a kid, which dm periodically made new outfits for - she was a great dressmaker & used to fashion wonderfully outre creations from scraps.

Nothing on the top of mine now. Either a star or an angel feels a bit too Christian - I like my Yule to be more pagan

We have Taz Angel in a biker jacket - its very cool. Got it in Warner Brothers shop on first trip to New York 25 years ago...

I have a Scooby Doo, he's about 25 years old. I think he's fab. Hopefully this file photo of him will work :)

I have a large poinsettia clip on flower on the top with smaller ones elsewhere on the tree.
