I have just got the chocolates /crisps/crackers/Christmas cake and a few frozen m&s party foods.
When do you normally do it?
I nearly bought a cheeseboard but thought I would wait till a week before.
What does everyone else have in ?

Chocolates, but I've eaten most of those at night in bed.

Ffsnosexallowed · 06/12/2019 19:31

Just wine.

Ragwort · 06/12/2019 19:38

Like others I have eaten most of the chocolates Grin.

Not actually doing any entertaining or hosting this year so not much to buy ... apart from treats for myself.

SexlessBoulderBelly · 06/12/2019 19:42

I went to do some early Christmas food shopping with my mum, I only got some snacky fun chocolate and sweet bits for my home at the moment and plan to start buying our dinner food soon.

My mum brought a loads of Christmas tree shapes crumpets to freeze as that’s what they have for Christmas breakfast is tea and Christmas crumpets but last year the shop sold out so quickly and they never seemed to have any when she went.

She asked me while shopping the other day to grab her some more, but they’re fully out of stock now and she’s gutted.... because she’s ate them already! I couldn’t believe she gave into temptation lol.

It's just a roast dinner with a few extra bits. I've got pigs in blankets and naice stuffing in the freezer, and mince pies because gluten free versions can sell out early.

Sn0tnose · 07/12/2019 10:01

We’ve got almost everything. As soon as the use by date is after December, I’ve bought it.

Almost all drinks are bought and stashed in the shed, all sweets & chocolates, savoury snacks, crisps etc are bought, things like pickled onions, crackers for cheese etc. Home made stuffing is done and in the freezer, along with pigs in blankets (I left it late last year and struggled to get some). Turkey and desserts are ordered and will be collected on 23rd, which is when we’ll do a fresh shop.

SashayThatWay · 07/12/2019 10:06

Considered buying the cheese last night, but decided it wouldn't last the weekend so thought better of it and filled the trolley with boring stuff instead 😖

PenelopeFlintstone · 07/12/2019 10:11

Also, nothing because I’d eat it Blush

LBOCS2 · 07/12/2019 10:16

I'm on my third box of matchmakers and second bottle of Baileys so I've stopped buying Christmas food so far in advance 😳

I am going to Costco this afternoon though so I fully expect to drop £300 on bits we absolutely need for Christmas 😁

Lolly34h · 07/12/2019 10:16

The Turkey and leg of lamb are in the freezer so are the pigs just gotta get the blankets. Got the tins of chocolates the crackers and biscuits for the cheese. My mom is taking care of the pudding. I've got the mince pies done and we dont eat christmas cake. Just gotta get the perishable food closer to christmas. Probably go Christmas eve to our local asda for those and then sort the cheese for the cheeseboard but still not made my mind up what to buy.

😂

A few dairy-free products. In previous years experience they sell out and aren't replaced. I'm on it this year..

popcorndiva · 07/12/2019 11:02

Celebrations tub when it was on offer
Chestnuts because they were half price
Shloer when they were £1 A bottle
Christmas pudding
Oh and goose fat

Pipandmum · 07/12/2019 11:11

Christmas cake a few weeks ago - and glad I did because it's the Good Housekeeping top rated one and its sold out now.

30not13 · 07/12/2019 11:54

Pickles and chutneys
Some cheese to test out before buying for Christmas
Turkish delight
Brandy sauce
Stolen bites
Lebkuchen

CroissantsAtDawn · 07/12/2019 12:16

Ive bought Christmas cake and Christmas pudding in October cos the dates are fine for Christmas and I was afraid Brexit would cut off the supply (I live abroad)

PandasandRabbit · 07/12/2019 17:35

I've ordered the turkey, pigs in blanket etc from the butchers.

Anything get now will get eaten - DS has 2 rolls of pigs in blankets for lunch and DH and I have had mince pies today. We're just making gingerbread alpaca biscuits, also will be gone by end of the day.

Parker231 · 07/12/2019 17:41

Food and drink ordered online - delivery 23 December. I do online food shopping all year and even more so at Christmas to avoid the crowds.

Presents have also been ordered online and most have arrived now.

lilgreen · 07/12/2019 17:42

Nope

lilgreen · 07/12/2019 17:44

I don’t really get the excessive Christmas food buying. Christmas dinner is not wildly different from a roast.

Parker231 · 07/12/2019 17:49

It’s a lot extra food (and drink) when DT’s are home from Uni for the holidays and we have another six family members staying for a week.

Oblomov19 · 07/12/2019 17:53

I should take notes.
Other than pigs in blankets, I have nothing!

GuyFawkesDay · 07/12/2019 17:54

Crisps, twiglets, Bailey's, wine, stollen in. Pigs in blankets in freezer, along with bacon lardons. Ice cream also. Got loads of chocolate. Hidden in loft so i can't start it 🙈 I have mincemeat in ready to bake freshly.

Rest is yet to buy but on order for 22nd. I do sticky toffee pudding as not many like Xmas pud so that's a day before make too.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 07/12/2019 20:33

I have a ham from costco, the size of the dwarf planet Pluto
a large duck...from the reduced counter in tesco
a lovely pork loin...ditto
a 2M long PiginBlanket from Aldi

...we nearly had two of them as dh missed that I had bought one and winkled it into the freezer and nearly picked one up, but decided it might offend me as I pride myself on my pigs in blankets I made 96 last year a personal best for the LaurieSchaeffer family.

On the look out for a bargain joint of beef or a turkey crown.

Booze...we keep that topped up all year, just need to check on the cointreau and sherry
I try not to buy sweeties/crisps/nuts/chocs until the last minute or people eat them.
