Balsam hill trees

Are they really as good as they say?! I want a realistic looking fake tree and I want 7foot! I've seen one on BH website on the black Friday sale that's £189 or £289 prelit. It's such alot of money and it worries me that you obviously can't see it properly!
Do they look expensive or would I be better just going to Tesco and getting one?!

I’ve got one, definitely better quality once you’ve fluffed all the branches out. Prelit makes it so much easier too.

FenellaVelour · 26/11/2019 18:34

This is mine. It’s the 6.5ft Fraser fir. I would’ve preferred white lights but my husband said it didn’t justify the extra cost (extra £100).

I love mine a lot. I only got a small 4 foot one but if I had the room, I would totally go for a bugger one

Bigger. Ffs. Bigger

And this is what happens when DH gets hold of the Balsam Hill catalogue first

I'm also wondering about getting a 6ft one. I'd prefer prelit but not sure it justifies the extra £100. Do you think the prices woo will do any further?

Floralnomad · 26/11/2019 18:42

We’ve got the 7’ prelit slim BH Fraser fir , it’s well worth the money , it looks good even undecorated . The only thing I would say is it’s not particularly slim ! My dh was very sceptical when I suggested BH a couple of years ago but he’s now a convert .

WellTidy · 26/11/2019 18:46

We have a pre lit balsam hill 6 or 7 foot tree. It was a present one year from my mum and dad. I absolutely love it. It does take quite a lot of faffing with the branches to plump them out but it does look good. I can’t imagine us ever replacing it.

PrettyShiningPeople · 26/11/2019 18:49

I bought ours 2 weeks ago but if I’d waited I could have saved another £30! AngryAngry

It’s more likely that the one you want will sell out, doubt they’ll drop any further, this us the third reduction.

rosamacrose · 26/11/2019 18:56

I looked at these, pre lit. How many years do the lights last? A tree that wont light up would be awful.
(Got an issue with the lights failing mid Christmas already! Grin I pre-date LED and, as a child of the 1950s, remember my father's annual git-fest over the fucking tree lights Grin It was virtually his one job. That and fetching the extra chairs.)

Tiredmummyof3 · 26/11/2019 19:24

Thanks for the responses! The £100 extra does seem alot for lights! I'm so pleased that the general census is that they are great! Not sure the prices will drop any further @TFSRM

@rosamacrose yeah I wondered how long the lights would last! A pre lit tree with no lights would be abit crap! They do come with extra bulbs etc

Yeah I love our one it's a 6ft pre lit one

TrickyD · 26/11/2019 21:57

I know I always say this on the 'which artificial tree? ' threads, but do have a look at ChristmasTreeWorld. I cannot see how our 8ft Woodland pine could be improved upon. Cheaper than BH.

@TrickyD I'll have a look thanks. It's so hard online as you just can't tell properly what they are like do it's good to go with a recommendation!

I didn’t like the look of the bulbs on the pre-lit one, they’re the old fashioned fairy light style.

Floralnomad · 27/11/2019 08:24

The bulbs look fine on ours , they push in ,I think ,and we definitely have spares .

PinkJam · 27/11/2019 15:39

We have one and though they are expensive I do think it’s worth DH the money. It packs away so well and every year looks good as new.
