Outdoor christmas lights help

This will be our first Christmas in our new house. We tend to keep the inside quite minimal with a tree, decorated fireplace and a few wee bits on the table. We've never really bothered about the outside before but I am quite excited this year to jazz it up because we now have a front garden etc. Anyone got any easy ideas?

Are those projector things any good?
How hard is it to put outdoor lights on walls?
Would it be too tacky if I get like a light up reindeer or something?

Sorry just a bit excited. Any ideas? Planning on doing this till December some point

It's christmas be as tacky as you like. The projectors are quite good, get some fairy lights for outdoor bushes n stuff. Go on, go mad (I amGrin)

I personally hate those projectors. Also inflatables, rope lights of Father Christmas/snowmen waving etc. And I don't understand what polar bears and penguins have to do with Christmas at all.

Reindeer look nice - maybe with a sleigh. No unicorns! Wtf? A set of lights around the window or on a tree. Or both.
It sounds like you don't want to go mad. At least not this year, but beware. It can be addictive Xmas Smile

I like the idea of the projectors, but I've got a spaniel who chases lights constantly. He'd be worn out and demented by Christmas Day.

We have lovely icicle lights that go around the front of the house. We clip them onto the gutter.
Really want some reindeer but haven’t seen any I really really like yet.

We were given some of the projector lights by DS2, thought they were very naff but put them up and loved them. They cove the whole front of the house, so I got some more for the back. But you have to choose carefully. Some only look any good if they are projected onto a surface within a couple of yards.
