Quantity vs budget

Heya just curious!!! A lot of the threads suggest it tends to fall into 2 camps when it comes to "how much" for the kids etc. - how many ( such as 10 gifts) or how much budget e.g. £100. Do you feel you go by one or the other or a combination? Do you think it depends on the age of the kids as well? X

We have a rough budget and roughly try to match present piles just so they look similar but that can mean wrapping up something that wouldn’t normally be a gift eg hat and scarf or slipper socks etc just to add in a few wee bits to unwrap...
