How do you treat yourself at christmas

Every year I buy myself a cinnamon Yankee candle and a present.

THis year I breached out to A wood wick caNile. Present was a Fjallraven Kanken Backpack (I’m too old I know😊).

Am I the only person who buys them-self a gift. I just got fed up spending hundreds of pounds on everyone else and not getting a treat myself.

I do get lovely presents - but this way I also get one I really really want.

I’m single so I buy myself a gift as I don’t have a partner to buy for. This year I have bought myself a coffee machine, some Dr marten sandals and a make up set. Last year I bought myself the Lego Campervan 😁

I buy myself a few things as dh has form for looking for suggestions on Christmas Eve. He’s very generous tbf but not everything I want can be picked up at the local shopping centre.

I really get a childish kick out of parcels arriving, especially when I’ve ordered a few things and have no idea what’s in which one. So, even though it’s mostly stuff for everyone else, I quite enjoy this time of year.

I always get myself a perfume, pyjamas and something I need. Some years is running shoes, others a kindle, an iPod, a pair of earrings Etc.
This year I already ordered my perfume and pyjamas. I need running/gym gear.

I allow myself to buy things I like while buying gifts. I am a collector of presents for others through the year, and quite moderate in my spending generally so I relax it in Dec- and allow myself some treats. It makes it feel nice for me too. I also plan in down time, so I am not going from busy thing to busy thing

ooh and I always get myself a Christmas magazine to keep in my bag and enjoy over a festive coffee when I find a twinkly little coffee shop that takes my fancy

I have not done this but i'm thinking of starting it this year, it sounds like a wonderful idea! I can think of lots of things I would like.

Last year we did stockings for myself and dh as well as dc and that was fun. We had things like new socks, a small box of favourite chocolates, minatures of drink we like, G&T can etc. It was lovely to have them to open that morning. We have my parents this year and might do small ones for them too, I think they'd like it.

My dad is a little hard to buy for so will have to put the thinking cap on as I really don't want to end up buying tat for the sake of it.

I also buy myself candles, will usually buy some new clothes for Christmas season & I have quite a few nice dinners & drinks with friends, which don't include the husband & kids.

So it's all stuff I do year round but all a bit extra special & concentrated in 2-3 weeks.

DH & I don't buy presents though as we're happy for each other to treat ourselves as we like.

youcanonlydraftthefuture · 27/11/2019 12:25

I don't really do this because...

I buy what I need, when I need it. And I only ever buy something I like if it's something I really like and will use/love, so that ties in with buying what I need to me.

Also, I prefer the spirit of giving. I just love seeing other people blown away by my good choice of present, that I know they'll genuinely like and use. I'm a bit 'meh' about receiving gifts as 9/10 it's something I don't like at all

Nanasueathome · 27/11/2019 13:15

I always buy myself a gift....and wrap it too
Undecided what to get this year but I’m sure to find something I ‘need’

I do my own stocking because no one else does, I spent £10 on it this year so not much and it has the same sweets as the kids are getting + a CD from poundland, a make up item £3, a necklace I got for £3 in a sale and keyring £0.50.
