Crackers

Are you having crackers on your dinner table? (I mean the pulling, party hat, joke type!)
Its such a tradition and a part of dressing the table but I am also concerned about the pointless plastic tat they generate. Anyone seen any 'eco' crackers or decent ones with useful contents?

I have just started a cracker thread itstheprinciple, but no replies as yet so following this with interest! I am on the look out for individual crackers (only two of us for lunch, so don't want to buy a box of twelve), but eco crackers would go down well here too!
Last year I bought individual crackers from Hotel Chocolat, think there were three individual chocolates in each plus a hat and joke. They were nice, and edible so no plastic contents, but I want something different this year.

Dunelm did some completely recyclable crackers with origami prizes inside.

I've also looked at some re-useable crackers which can re-filled year after year.

DDS and I made our own crackers last weekend so we can cut down on our plastic waste. It was so easy. We did conveniently have 2 different size toilet rolls and one fit inside the other, we glue gunned fabric on and tied the ends. They are actually really good!

I've bought the make your own cracker kits from Dunelm. They come with a hat and joke and I've bought individual (decent, useful) presents for everyone to go inside. I HATE plastic tat!

Oxfam do some with no plastic, they have little paper tree decorations inside. Really nice. www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/sourced-by-oxfam/home-and-gift/christmas-decorations/festive-foliage-christmas-crackers-6-pack-hn501784
