Plan on buy one for my children at Christmas. Three children age 11, 12 and 14. I want games they can all play together and know nothing about games consoles, we've never had one before. Where best to buy, what to buy and which games would people recommend?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but if you're planning on letting them play online with friends you also need the Nintendo online subscription now. I wouldn't go through the E shop for that as it can be gotten much cheaper from third parties and you'd need one for each child if their going to be playing on their own profiles.

I paid £25 for a years family subscription which allows eight profiles. My brother went halves with me and his children have two of the slots, my dd and myself have two, and then her friends gave her £1 to be added for the year too :)

I've not seen it drop for black Friday yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for a deal

fedup21 · 22/11/2019 08:44

Is is actually Black Friday today? I can’t see any switch deals??

mamabluestar · 22/11/2019 11:10

It's Black Friday next week, but lots of places seem to be advertising early sales

KenDodd · 22/11/2019 17:24

Please keep me posted if anyone see a good deal. I haven't bought it yet.

You can get the Switch plus a game (Pokemon or Mario Kart 8) for £299 from Amazon/Currys.

Considering the game is £40+, that’s not too bad. I can’t see it being massively reduced though.

I got quite a good deal on Amazon a couple of years ago on Nintendo Switch + 2 games for £300, might be worth checking there next week.

I know it’s added expense but if you are getting extra controllers it’s worth investing in a controller charging station like this (although there are lots of different types). You can only charge two controllers at a time with the standard pack and they have to be attached to the game pad to do so, meaning someone gets left out. It also helps keep them in one place, rather than lost down the back of the sofa.

Don't know if it affects your decision but Currys promised to refund the difference if the price is reduced again during the Black Friday sale.
