Decorations for a bare wall?

I have bought loads of Xmas decs over the years but yet I still can't get our living room to feel totally Christmassy.

I think the area that's letting it down is the bare wall behind our sofa, it's facing the door as soon as you walk in.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to decorate a wall? I've had a look in shops but can't seem to find anything. There are some nice wreaths, but feel it would look a bit lost on its own.

Thanks!

How about something like this
That particular one has sold out but you can get light up canvases on Ebay.

This is lovely, I have one:

There's a thread somewhere where you can get £20 off a £25 spend, which is what I did.

Last year, I bought some stick on/peel off window and wall stickers from Wilko.
I think they're called "decals" if you wanted to look for something similar online.

I like that hanging tree.

I saw something similar to this in the Tesco magazine, except it was just done with fairy lights and not a garland. It was basically just drawing pins in the wall with fairy lights zigzagged across to make the shape of a Christmas tree. Fairly inexpensive and looks lovely imo 😊

Or you could do a Christmas themed gallery wall, like in this pic? You could buy a bunch of Christmas themed prints and some cheap frames, maybe add a few family Christmas pics into the mix to make it more personal?

We’re planning on doing something similar this year using the few pictures of the kids with Santa as a starting point, then add to it over the years as we get more Santa’s grotto pics

I'm going to follow this with interest - our main lounge does not have any "hanging places" or surfaces to put xmas decs in. I can't get pins in our walls or ceiling either as they are too solid!

I like that, Mumtobe193. I am now wishing we had a bare wall so I could have a go at making one. I'd use cheap thin garland as well as lights so it would look like your photo.

I have a hanging frosted tree as wel which looks lovely. I don't have as many decs on it as that picture. Our local garden centre does a number of decorations with clips (birds / butterflies etc) so I have them on the ends plus a few small baubles.

Instead of buying prints to frame just print off at home - goggle free Christmas printables. I use printable light card from crafters companion. Charity shops, Wilkos and even the pound shop have frames ... I use command strips for hanging.

Sweet heart you can buy packs of stick on Dec hanging stuff

sweetheart · 20/11/2019 11:52

Child do you have an example? I don't want to damage the pain and wall paper on our walls with sticky stuff.
