My son is going to uni next September, does anyone have any ideas of gifts for Christmas I could get him that would be helpful? I’m not thinking along the line of pots/pans/utensil type ideas though but other things he might need/use/ appreciate that someone who’s had experience of uni life might be able to help me with!

New phone if his is older?
Annual cinema pass?
A good winter coat!

Printer. Not always needed though.

Cards Against Humanity game

Slippers (with a proper sole) for when the fire alarms go off at 3am. Which they will do most weeks.

Doorstop so he can prop his door open and meet people.

I think a doorstop wouid be a rather dull Christmas present (sorry) and not necessarily even useful as some halls ban them. That's one to put on the 'little things before you go' list.

Laundry bag (with novelty slogan) - you could use it as Santa's sack?

Bluetooth speaker a good idea. The Juice ones are good.

PJs and dressing gown.

Lounge pants/joggers for days when he can't be bothered to put real clothes on to crawl to a lecture!

A gift card for a supermarket or eating place: one that will be handy for him to get to in his university town.
