Good quality stockings

Looking to get some good quality knitted stockings this year. Ideally personalised.

Have had a look on Ebay but worried that they wont be decent quality.

Any suggestions? (either online or in shops)

Hello - my 7 year old boy is currently fighting leukaemia. Since it was diagnosed 10 months ago his body has been through a lot and due to this, sport is not currently very possible for him. He used to be so proud of his sporty achievements and loved being good at something. Recently, however, he has taken to singing and has a 30 minute singing lesson once a week at school. He misses quite a lot of school but goes to great lengths to ensure he makes his singing lessons whenever possible as they mean so much to him. At my mums suggestion we sent a 30 Sec recording of his voice to a cathedral choir school and they’ve replied asking us to come to see them to audition. He is so proud and excited but I’m worried that if he gets rejected it’d be a kick in the teeth (after a lot of kicks in the teeth recently) His voice has a beautiful quality, he holds a tune but struggles to hit the high notes. Can anyone tell me whether this is something that can be improved with the kind of choral training that these kids get or should I pull out of this audition to save him from potential heartbreak?
I appreciate this is a bit of a niche question but it’s really burning my biscuit
TIA

I'd like to buy a nice stocking too. I had a look at a few places online, but didn't see anything that looked right.

@Pia77 i’ve asked MNHQ to move your post to it’s own thread in parenting or chat - hope that’s okay, as it seems like an important question and i hope you get some answers Smile FWIW, i’d just make sure he knows he’s supported and loved no matter what the outcome so he doesn’t add any additional external stress to the situation, but tell him you’re happy to take him if he’d like to do it for himself, and if it doesn’t work out there are X or Y local choirs instead, or Z private voice lessons.

@lilsquish knitted i haven’t seen, i’m afraid, but FWIW, i just ordered a stocking and a sack with an initial on from Matalan, and i’m really impressed with the quality - they are both lovely luxurious feeling velvet and soft/sparkly. Can’t speak to longevity however...

Thanks so much - I’ve stuck it in under ‘health’ - I honestly am too young to find this that difficult.... many thanks for your help

LouMumsnet · 16/11/2019 18:26

Don't worry at all, @Pia77 - we've all been there!

Best of luck. Flowers

Lands end do some traditional looking ones that you can personalise. I got a gorgeous big red and white knitted one from the white company a few years back but haven't seen them again which is a shame as wanted a second for dd2. In the end I got her one from notonthehighstreet where it might be worth a look.
