Best booze for Christmas cake?

Am going to go home later via supermarket and buy booze to soak my dried fruit in before making cake tomorrow. Plain brandy or something else? And if something else then what?

I use brandy but a friend of mine swears by bourbon. Her cake is good. Mind you, so is mine

Calvados gives it additional flavour.

I usually alternate sherry and whiskey but did one with a spiced dark rum one year that was also 😋

Pale cream sherry wins everytime!

My last couple have had dark rum in them and have been perfect.

I don't think it actually matters what booze you use and you can go for the cheapest possible if you like.

Soak the fruit in brandy and a little sherry, then feed with lots of brandy, slightly less whisky and some sherry. I like a Christmas cake you can get drunk on

I went for the poshest brandy Tesco had and gave myself a generous slug too. Wow - it is strong stuff!

I always use mount gay rum in mine.

Sherry. Used brandy for years but sherry is in another league for Christmas cake.

I've got some Pimms left. If I boil up the fruit in that would it be ok?
