Just a light hearted thread Grin

I always get the dog some gifts. Funds are a bit low this year but I’m still going to get her some inexpensive treats I know she likes.

Anyone else?

Yes, squeaky toys, food treats, a doggy stocking and a cuddly toy.

auditoryhallucinations · 10/11/2019 22:52

Yes we always have done but this year we've decided they can have some of their favourite cat food, some dreamies and we're going to donate £20 worth of food to a local cat shelter as ours are the most ungrateful buggers who aren't the slightest bit interested in any of it apart from swiping at my baubles Grin

LustigLustig · 11/11/2019 14:58

My DC absolutely LOVE choosing a present for the cat Grin. They spend ages in frowning concentration, perusing the shelves and weighing up the relative merits of different flavours of cat treats.

And yes, our cat gives presents too. Always something related to cats, birds or mice, and wrapped in fur print or paw print tissue paper with feathers stuck to it. (I like the idea upthread of sticking bits of fur to the sellotape too, might introduce that).

No

WeirdCatLady · 11/11/2019 17:15

We buy for the house pets, not the garden ones. So WeirdDog and WeirdCat get their own advent calendars and stocking gifts. WeirdHen doesn’t get anything though.

They also buy us birthday, Fathers and Mother’s Day stuff. We’re all mad here Xmas Grin

1stTimeMama · 12/11/2019 10:49

Lol, looks like me and @billandbenflowerpotmen1 are firmly in the minority here!

Dylanpickle · 12/11/2019 11:07

I am actually a bit of a Christmas scrooge, (don't send cards or even have a tree).....apart from when it comes to our Dog.

She has already had an early present, a squeaky sprout, which she has gone mad for. She will also have an advent calendar and a turkey dinner. My DM has got her a new Christmas collar, which she wore out for the first time today.

fishcalledbob · 12/11/2019 11:10

My dog has her own advent calendar 😬 has 2 presents off us so far and more lined up.

MrsAgassi · 12/11/2019 11:12

Yes! I’d already bought some but he sniffed them out (and obviously once he’s seen them then they can’t be from FC), so he’s had those and I need to start again!

He gets an advent calendar too.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 12/11/2019 11:18

Yes, presents on the day and advent calendars leading up to it. They'd be most put out if we didn't. 😂

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/11/2019 11:23

No

HeronLanyon · 12/11/2019 11:30

Yes I did when had pets. There Was one one Mad, glorious year when our cat and a cat across the road (they used to watch each other across the road - they never met irl) swapped cards and a small gift with each other !

joangray38 · 12/11/2019 11:30

My car get s an advent, his subscription box Christmas hamper, gift box of dreamies and goodie bag treats and a few toys. He also gets presents when I go on holiday!

joangray38 · 12/11/2019 11:31

Car - cat

WeirdCatLady · 12/11/2019 13:54

@joangray38 what’s the subscription box? I’m always on the lookout for more tat to spoil WeirdCat with.

Goldenphoenix · 12/11/2019 14:09

Oh yes definitely! Our dog gets a new cuddly toy and an antler for Christmas

MrsElf · 13/11/2019 07:11

Oh dear, its quite scary now I come to think about it.

Elfmutts usually have advent calendars, but number 4 just arrived, so might just do one calendar for the pup, and dole the other 3 a treat out of their (Seasonal) treat tin.

They share a stocking full of treats, grooming things, and the annual new toothbrushes.

Elfmutt1 gets a traditional looking soft toy, I leave it under the tree as a decoration and he has never ever helped himself before it is pointed out to him on Christmas morning.
Elfmutt2 usually gets a new bed, but I spotted a selection box with all his favourites in this year.
Elfmutt3 will get either training dummies or balls.
Elfpup is getting a harness. And a stuffed squeaky reindeer.
All things I would buy anyway, and not always wrapped, but definitely under the tree.

They get more presents from my mum, Aunts, in-laws etc, and ‘they’ give presents to all their friends.

They also have various bows, bells, bandanas and this year The Elfpup will be borrowing a jumper. The collar that died last week was replaced with a red tartan one, and they have some Christmas bedding, so they look rather festive already Grin

mathanxiety · 13/11/2019 07:13

My Dcat believes I get the Christmas tree and all its decorations just for her own personal amusement.

FAQs · 13/11/2019 11:38

Yes and our dog walker arranges a secret Santa Paws so we buy for another of her dogs and our dog receives a mystery present with a max £5 spend limit.

Defenestratethecat · 13/11/2019 13:33

DH is sourcing a new climbing tower for the DCats. He appears to be putting more thought and effort into this than into presents for me. Hmm Grin

We also receive presents from the cats - DH usually receives a box of liquorice allsorts, I usually receive a box of jelly babies. The Dcats are very clever and stealthy at shopping for and wrapping the presents - we never have an inkling...……..

Arrowfanatic · 13/11/2019 13:46

My 3 cats are far too aloof (ready grumpy old men) to want to partake in such frivolity. They may sit on the childrens stack of xmas presents just to prove that yes, they do indeed own all of this too. Xmas Grin

They will get an xmas dinner which 2 out of 3 will probably turn their noses up at and the third will eat his and theirs and then start sniffing round their slaves humans plates if we dare to look away for more than 0.6 of a second.

God i love them and their grumpy old men personalities Flowers

joystir59 · 13/11/2019 13:53

Of course! Dog is a beloved family member. So he gets a new soft toy and favourite treats to unwrap, and he has Christmas dinner- meat potatoes sprouts and gravy. He loves the sense of fun and excitement that starts with going for a Christmas morning walk on the beach with all the other happy dogs.

NatureGal · 13/11/2019 22:21

Our dogs get gifts from us and Santa 🎅. One is getting some new chuck it balls and our little boy is desperate to get him the Nerf ball launcher. The other hates balls and is getting a new cuddly toy and treats. They love unwrapping presents and help the kids. Our cat gets something too but at 18 is getting a bit tricky to buy for! She always gets a pot of clotted cream for breakfast on Christmas morning.

AndWhatNext · 13/11/2019 23:02

DCat gets Dreamies and a new scratch pad every year.

Bluerussian · 13/11/2019 23:43

I have bought presents for pets, Christmas and birthdays sometimes :-). Especially when my son was small, he loved doing that. Other people have also bought gifts, stockings and that sort of thing. It's fun. I don't do it now though, I have one gorgeous adult cat and don't know his birth date, he couldn't care less about Christmas and is past the stage of wrecking the tree!

This is fun:
