Help with coffee machine

Dh has birthday just before Christmas. Always a struggle to know what to buy him as he always says ' pants and socks'
Out of the blue he's announced he'd like a coffee machine. We're not great coffee drinkers, he will have a skinny latte when we're at Costa. That's the extent of his knowledge and I have even less!
Don't want to spend too much in case it becomes a white elephant. Has to be easypeasy to use and would like to make hot chocolate in it too.
Any Suggestions???

Pod machine.

Sounds like you're not coffee snobs so that will do and can be picked up cheaply. Get a variety box of pods and enjoy experimenting over Xmas!

I'm on my second Gaggia espresso machine and wouldn't really consider anything else apart from, possibly, a DeLonghi. But then I like strong espresso and nothing else.

It sounds like a pod machine is a sensible first step if you're not confident about making coffee, but the cost of the pods can mount up rather quickly and unless you go to the effort of recycling the pods they can be an environmental disaster.

Have decided on a Nespresso by Magimix Essenza pod machine. We are coffee novices and this gives lots of flexibility.
Thanks all for your suggestions. Spot on!

I have the Bosch tassimo which is a pod one. Use it for husband's coffee and my chai and hot chocolate.

You made a great choice with Nespresso
