Card games?

There are always threads about good family board games, so wondering if people could recommend good card games?

I usually put a card game or something similar in the stockings, which usually gets played between courses at lunch.

Hits in the past have been UNO, dibble, banana grams, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit.

Looking for something each for 8 yo and 12yo that the whole family can enjoy (aged 6 - 86) and doesn't take too long.

exploding kittens would be good for the 12yo and others can join in

We have DUO and Phase10 (same makes as UNO). Phase10 takes a while though. What about a book of card games? We got one last year and it was great, we learned loads of new games - some are really silly, and got the whole family playing.

The card game, 'WoT' was popular in our home. It's pronounced what. Google it.

We also used to play, 'stop the bus' it uses ordinary playing cards. Again, you would have to Google it. We used to play for pennies.

There's another game that's a story where the jacks all end up on top of the deck of cards because they get rescued from a burning building by a helicopter.

Monopoly Deal or pretty much anything by Gamewright (we love Wig Out, but also Sushi Go, Sleeping Queens etc).

Avocado Smash would be good for your youngest. It’s a good twist on the game of Snap.
Mind The Gap is also good. www.johnlewis.com/gibsons-mind-the-gap-card-game/p3254789

Another vote for Monopoly Deal

Exploding Kittens. Our six year old can play, buy adults also really enjoy, so good for either.

Monopoly Deal is super. Don't think we'll ever go back to the board game.

BOLD by the makers of UNO is good.

I agree with exploding kittens. It's a hit here with DS (10) and DSD (5). DP gets annoyed if he doesn't win, but at 40 he needs to learn how to deal with disappointment and not be a sore loser. 😆

DS also has bears v babies (made by the same people) and really likes that.

Prediction Whist

Exploding Kittens is great another endorsement for that here.

Also The Chameleon is brilliant, it sounds far more complicated than it is and is great fun for all ages.
