When will JL air I wonder and will it be all modern telling us all how to be nice etc or will it be a good old fashioned feel good advert?

I can't believe Mariah agreed to a walkers ad, she barely ate that crisp!

n which case why is there a random dragon living in a town, and how does he afford to pay the rent / mortgage on the house. I have so many unanswered questions, the AD makes no sense.

Grin Watersheep - I think in children's fable-land this kind of stuff doesn't matter. I mean, why did a random Tiger come to tea?

If you want to go deeper people could take a refugee community vibe from it (like Paddington) where you are different but can always bring something to the table (literally the table in this ad!)

Loveislandaddict · 14/11/2019 10:22

I prefer the JL advert over Sainsbury. The Sainsbury was a bit dark at the beginning, whilst JL was sweet.

WeCameToDanceWithTheDead · 14/11/2019 10:30

I don't like the Sainsbury's one. It was dark and miserable and does not make me feel at all festive. I like the John Lewis one but I suspect there will be ones I prefer when I eventually see them. Ds is obsessed with dragons at the minute though so he is going to love the Jl one!

PinkJam · 14/11/2019 11:40

The John Lewis advert is much better than their advert last year. It gives a nice warm feeling and kids will like it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2019 12:18

I just watched the Sainsbury one , very good , bit Christmas Carol and the black/white works well with the oranges .

I like the John Lewis one ( trouble is they always cut the adverts they show the epic full length for a week or so , then the short version) . The girl is beautiful, like the female heroine in 'Brave'

Aldi meh

Asda one is sweet

I'm underwhelmed at the M&S Food one , love the Christmas Jumper one though.

Surely M&S have a Christmas Advert proper though, not just food'n'sweaters ?

Arrowfanatic · 14/11/2019 12:46

I love the JL one, and my dragon obsessed kids will be beside themselves with excitement for it.

I havent seen the coca-cola one yet, usually i know its been on as i get a chorus of "xmas is coming" posts across FB.

Aldi is meh. Sainsburys was nice but a bit odd.

KateFoster · 14/11/2019 16:06

I'm abit underwhelmed by all the Xmas adverts. None make me feel as happy as the singing Sainsbury's ones- the animated one with James corden and the school concert one we're just fantastic and uplifting. Not getting that feeling from JL, Sainsbury's or Aldi- aldi is terrible tbh!

AmIAWeed · 14/11/2019 16:56

Not only do I love the JL one, im super impressed the welly boots go up to a size 4. Already ordered....for me. Don't care if im 34, my barbours have a split and these look bloody brilliant!

I am however unimpressed that in previous years they had someone read the story book and not this year - I really liked that approach. This has no verbal dialogue (like most) so anyone with sight loss will have no idea whats going on. I do wish companies would think a little about ALL their customers when spending stupid amounts on marketing. I'm going to go on my own private rampage about inaccessibility in marketing and shops in general

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 14/11/2019 17:56

I like the new Ikea one. Completely different from the others and made me smile instead of cry.

I really don’t like Sainsbury’s ad this year, I think it would have scared me as a child. What’s wrong about showing the public the festive food you’re selling? You’re a supermarket fgs.
I just like the M&S jumper one so far, that song literally does make me want to jump around! Grin

Milicentbystander72 · 15/11/2019 08:23

That Ikea one is ACE! Grin

Milicentbystander72 · 15/11/2019 08:23

Those nodding snail salt and pepper pots crack me up!

00100001 · 15/11/2019 09:10

the IKEA ONE IS AMAZING.....not really Christmas, but fun anyway...

If your house was car... it would get pulled over...

this very very, very very, very very very unacceptable!

Milicentbystander72 · 15/11/2019 09:30

I think anything goes for Christmas these days. I think there is a bit of pressure to have the perfect Christmas 'dressed' house as well. I think Ikea have summed it up perfectly. Very funny.

70sWitch · 15/11/2019 10:32

Ok. I clearly need to watch more telly Grin
