My ds has additional needs. He is currently obsessed with magnets.
I remember when I was little a game (maybe one of the desk ones sold for business people) where you could shape pins on top of a string magnetic.

This us the kind of thing hed love but I cant find anything.

Any ideas?
Ideally something he could play by himself

Thank you.

Both mine love magnets, however DS (who has SN) still has a tendency to put things in his mouth so I'm very very wary of what he plays with as the risk of him swallowing something is just too high.

We do have a sculpure thing, where the base is the magnetic part, the balls are not magnetic. Similar to this

They both like geomags, the grandparents have a small set. However the little magnetic rods are a bit to swallowable for me to give him free range with at home.

Thames and Kosmos Magic of Magnets set or the Learning Resources STEM Magnet activity set. There is a Geomag Mechanics Gravity race track kit.

I don't know the kind of toy you mean I'm afraid but have you seen magformers? My DS's love those.

I’m not sure how old your son is, but mine both loved the Hape magnetic maze train when small. It’s designed for young children, so very safe.

They also love Magformers, which again, are very safe. My eldest got his first set at 3, and still gets them out now, at nearly 7.

Magnatiles or magnetic building blocks might do the job.

How about Tegu? Wooden blocks with magnets inside, big enough to be super safe x
