Luxurious soap bars

Hi, I'm looking for some lovely smelling luxurious soap bars to put in a homemade "hamper" for some of my female relatives.

I've seen some soaps in White Stuff and Fat Face but really wanted some recommendations for some strong but nice fragranced soap bars.

I'm also looking for shampoo bars too if anyone knows of anywhere that sells good quality ones?

Thanks

Arran Aromatics 'after the rain' is nice. You can sometimes get it in TKMaxx

HappyHammy · 27/10/2019 20:11

Floris do lovely soaps, they have a shop in London but sell online. You could also look for organic honey or flower based soaps in health shops.

Yorkshire soap company do some gorgeous soap bars. They also do ones that are like slices of cake.

I like these soaps - the ginger and lime is my favourite.

BelindasGleeTeam · 27/10/2019 20:27

Nesti Dante are gorgeous. I get them in my local indy chemist

Try &keep for amazing soap, shampoo and conditioner bars. Much cheaper than Lush and imo better.

Ooh wow, thank you all so much. So much choice!

I'm excited about making my choices, think I'll go for different fragrances for each person.

I've nothing more to add but I'd like to create a similar hamper for someone this year so am looking for ideas. What else are you going to be putting in yours, OP?

mamandematribu · 27/10/2019 20:57

Amazon have a good stash of posh soaps or you could try lush

cccameron · 27/10/2019 21:01

TKMaxx is brilliant for soaps. Loads of really lovely smelling and gorgeously packaged soaps at bargain prices.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 21:08

@MsSweeney I haven't got very far, just thought a lovely fragranced soap bar, shampoo bar, a smelly candle and pretty coaster to put the candle on. Wrapped in tissue paper in a decorated brown paper bag.

Had wondered about a nail varnish too but not sure about that as colours are quite personal

@mamandematribu I've just ended up on amazon whilst googling the Arran aromatics recommendation above. I would prefer to be able to smell them first and so I'm tempted by a trip to TKMaxx as recommended by @cccameron

Friendly Soap for soap and shampoo bars. Palm oil free, cruelty free, smell wonderful, made in Yorkshire.

hellohaute · 27/10/2019 21:19

Any soap by Santa Maria Novella

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/10/2019 21:20

Oh definitely TKMaxx , they have a really good soap selection ( spend hours in there )
My favourite soaps are the Bronnley lemon and neroli ( also orange and bergamot , or lime and something ) have a look in the old fashioned chemist shops on the high street ( while they’re still there ! )

@cyclingwife Thanks, I like those ideas.

The person whom I have in mind already has a range of lovely (travel-sized) hand creams or I would have included one as well.

cyclingwife · 27/10/2019 21:41

Thanks @Doilooklikeatourist I saw a bronnley one on amazon earlier and wondered what it would be like. Good to have a recommendation.

L'Occitane soaps are lovely.
You can get 6 variety packs of Nesti Dante on Amazon.
Crabtree and Evelyn, Woods of Windsor, Roger and Gallet all nice.

ChicCauldron · 27/10/2019 21:57

I love the Marseille type of French soap - it's often available in Home Sense/TK Maxx so worth looking in there or available on eBay.

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/10/2019 21:59

@cyclingwife , my Grandma had the lemon soaps fro Christmas every year ( when we did t have huge expensive gifts for Christmas) so they’ve always been a fond memory for me
I do have a bit of a soap habit , and keep posh soaps in my undies drawer , but the lemon soaps are really good 🍋

wontletmelogin · 27/10/2019 22:00

Definitely go to TK Maxx or Homesense. Also decent garden centres sometimes have lovely soaps in.

bluerad · 27/10/2019 22:13

Another vote for Nesti Dante soaps. They smell gorgeous and last ages.

AuntyElle · 27/10/2019 22:27

At Christmas TKMaxx get lovely scented soaps in the most amazing boxes... some with integral music boxes! By Punch Studio.
