Struggling with nieces age 6 and 8

Used to put loads of thought in (eg craft hamper , musical toys etc etc) but they’d always get so much from everyone else they were overwhelmed and I felt like my efforts didn’t transfer into joy! So last 2 years have just got them each one gift from a top toys of the year list, fingerlings 2017 and then LOL surprise code breaker last year, and they went down very well each year! They see all the adverts on YouTube so they’re amazed if they get anything from there..
I got older one a Blume doll for birthday, not sure if she liked it, but now she’s a bit older I’d like to get something more thoughtful again! She likes making up little games and drawing , and I think she likes spy kind of things , but doesn’t have a lot of patience, I was thinking some kind of scrapbook/journal if anyone knows anything suitable for that age?

Then younger niece absolutely loves Disney/singing Disney songs , she has ASD and gifts that others have got her that have gone down amazingly have been: toy microphone, toy camera .. she also loves making ‘potions’ by sneaking up into the bathroom and mixing all shampoos and other liquids together.. so I was wondering about a toy potion kit.. or would this encourage her 😆 any ideas would be really useful!! Thanks so much!!

What about a bundle of stuff for making slime?

There are some good science kits ( but get a proper one not the 'glitter and crystal variety' aimed at girls Confused or our biggest hit for similar age last year was LCD writing pads.
