What are you getting your 11-12 year old boy?

As I am stuck

He doesn’t need
Electronics
Bike
Phone

He’s not really into clothes or trainers yet.

We live rurally in Scotland so membership of anything is difficult.

He does like being out on his bike and scooter.

He likes his x box but don’t want to get more games for that.

Any suggestions as I am stumped!

I am in almost the exact same situation. We live very rurally in the Highlands.

My DS will be getting a share of a paddleboard, a life jacket and possibly tickets for a 6 nations match in the spring.

Other ideas I had for him were one of the sprocket photo printer things, more Harry Potter Lego and a pogo stick.

Spanglyprincess1 · 16/10/2019 08:21

I'm getting Dsc whose 12 a motocross (electric) lesson with his friend which is in Scotland. Would he like that kind of thing?

linentowel · 16/10/2019 08:24

Motocross, that’s an idea! Thanks.

Also Harry Potter LEGO is a good idea too. He got the castle last year and enjoyed building it.

I am in the same boat with my 11 year old, only we're not particularly rural.
I saw a smart football the other day, that links to an app on their phone and they can practise footie skills. I think I'll order that. Have also got a Bluetooth speaker for his bedroom, and he is into clothes and shoes so maybe some new fancy trainers.

Ricekrispie22 · 16/10/2019 17:23

From my knowledge of my 11yo nephew, here are some suggestions:
Basketball hoop and ball
Chemistry set
Anki Cosmo robot
Electric guitar
Remote control car

ImportantWater · 16/10/2019 17:31

I don’t know but I am following with interest, as DS just had his 12th birthday and I have now exhausted all ideas (he had a phone and a gaming headset). Mine does love super complicated card and board games but the games cupboard is already straining at the seams.

Mimx · 16/10/2019 18:45

If he likes being out on his bike and scooter, maybe a go-pro or something like it?

I think we’re likely to be asked for an electric guitar as DS seems to spend more time on his teacher’s electric guitar than his own acoustic one during his lessons!

LoonyLunaLoo · 16/10/2019 19:07

DA is 10 but will be 11 in May. He’s getting and Apple Watch, a pennyboard, Vans and DC clothing and pool/ holiday stuff as we’ll be in Australia.

He could do with a new motorbike helmet and snowboard jacket/ pants but I’m not carting them to Australia so may get them and leave them at home or might get them another time.

CatsMother66 · 16/10/2019 19:19

My DS is 12 in December. Only thing he has asked for is a telescope.
Ideas for you: science and experiment kits, Meccano kits especially the robotic ones, Rubik cube, driving experiences, microscope, lazer maze type puzzles. O
Amazon is brilliant as if you buy something it will throw up suggestions on a similar theme.

linentowel · 16/10/2019 20:41

Thank you.

Go pro is a good idea. I’m going to also go with the motocross thing above. He can go that jointly with DH.

@linentowel be prepared to spend a fortune 😂 ds “had a go” on an electric trials motorbike (similar to motocross but different) age 5 and it’s now been our life for the past 5 years!

MegBusset · 16/10/2019 22:29

DS1 (12) wants some Dungeons & Dragons books and a big bar of Dairy Milk Tiffin! Also getting him some Bluetooth headphones, books, a onesie, and some Lego (not sure what kind yet).

DS2 (10) is getting a much-longed-for gecko.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 16/10/2019 22:43

Same situation, DS has asd as well which makes it all that harder. So far have got him a Lego train, disco light and bubble machine (he like the DJ set up) he’s got most switch games and doesn’t really play PlayStation anymore. Problem I have is his bday is 11 days later so I have to get everything together otherwise (from past experience) nothing good available right after Christmas.

WellTidy · 16/10/2019 22:52

Harry Potter Lego - knight bus and hogwarts express train
Massive selection box type thing of jelly beans
Stones, paints, lacquer and a book on how to paint stones
Same as above but for fimo, in a range of colours
Harry Potter clothes and PJs from Boden
Fifa 20 for the Nintendo switch
Toilet bag plus toiletries as he is going on more nights and trips away
Maybe something for his bedroom, unsure what yet
Chemistry set maybe
Electronics set maybe

Stocking - I have a thread going in the Christmas board asking for ideas for 11yo boy stocking, if you’re interested 😀

OhioOhioOhio · 16/10/2019 22:53

Paddle board is a great idea. What about a flying experience?

Threeminis · 16/10/2019 23:00

Young drivers driving lesson
Trainers
Voucher for a "cool" clothes shop

Didkdt · 16/10/2019 23:11

I'm in this boat I'm thinking of a cycle computer but Anaki the robot was requested a bit late last year.
A driving experience would be loved

Threeminis · 16/10/2019 23:36

This is something I have considered too
Marty

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 17/10/2019 10:11

@ThomasShelbysBunnet Do you have a link to the smart football?

vickibee · 17/10/2019 10:15

My Ds was 11 last xmas and asked for a hoverboard. Doesn't use it much. He has asked for some airpods this year and a collectible- The Elder Wand from Harry Potter.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/10/2019 17:51

Such a difficult age. I have main present sorted but stuck on some physically biggish but not expensive presents for under the tree.

But some main present ideas:
Junior pool table (with foldable legs)
Guitar

Bunnybigears · 17/10/2019 18:33
