I will be 5 months pregnant this Christmas eve, have two dc aged 8 and 11 and always look forward to Christmas Eve, dh is usually off also , so the whole family usally does something together.

Think I might change it up this year, I love going into town for last minute bits etc, but wondering what you all do, my family don't live near so wont see them, and his family aren't really bothered with seeing us, so its just our own little family.

We live rural so although I would love the idea of having friends over, its prob too far for someone to drive or take that much time out of a busy day such as Christmas eve.

Sorry if this has been done to death . x

Me and H are both off this year.
I quite fancy a look to the beach if it’s fine, maybe Seaham or Roker as it’s so lovely to have a walk and then some fish and chips. We went to Whitby last Christmas Eve and it was fab as they had a canoe race in festive dress!

We will probs stop to collect some holly preferably with berries on and then come home for Christmas telly with the kids, pyjamas on, treat food and snuggles.

We are in Disneyland Paris and driving home late at night! Plan to be home at around 10/11pm and straight to bed! Hoping for a magical end to the day rather than screaming tired kids.....

Is it wrong I get so much joy reading random strangers plans ! Ahhhh…

I remember working in retail as a 20 yr old! I loved it, but then in fairness I didn't have any kids etc to come home to, I loved the rush and hustle of everyone, granted there was a few moody marys about, but of course i didn't stop to think they probably had kids hanging out of them or lots to do at home, or maybe they had put in a few rushed hours themselves at work.

Now when I do go into the shops I do try to be as friendly as possible, if not over the top to the staff, they are missing out on all the things I love about Christmas eve to serve and look after me.

I think this year I might try some of your ideas like a nice country walk at some stage, I like the idea of collecting some greenery to make something nice, we have lots of that around us, never thought of it.

I ordered Xmas eve boxes last year, was rightly robbed by the lady doing them up, but held onto them for this year again, will fill them up and give them to the kids for a movie in the late afternoon, the excitement on Christmas eve is unreal here, the only night in the year that the kids are bursting to get to bed.

We usually let the kids sleep at the foot of our bed, but at 11 and 8 now this will probably be the last year they will want to do that. It purely because they want us all to get up at the same time.

Last year I used up a roll of Christmas wrapping paper and papered the door into the sitting room, so both of them bashed through it hand in hand, hilarious and they thought the elves had done it as a prank.
Thanks for a lovely read ladies x

We have a Christmas Eve hamper. It contains the magic key that we use every year, new PJs, baking items to make cookies for Santa and a special activity. This year it will be cinema and bowling but in the past, we have done panto, ice skating, Harry Potter studio tour etc. Then home for a picky tea, followed by bath, Christmas film, bed. I love Christmas eve more than Christmas day!

Usually my DH works and myself & my best friend go a work over the common into town, have lunch in a little cafe and then home. Kids then watch t.v. & generally chill whilst i prep for xmas day.

However, this year i have a new job and i have no idea what hours they work over xmas eve.
