Hiya,

I'm after some some inspiration for Christmas decorations please.
We have a toddler and a 10 month old, the toddler wont touch the tree, but i'm assuming the baby will once it's up. The tree and a few lights in the windows are all I did last year, but looking for some ideas/inspiration for some new decorations around the house to make it all feel more christmassy. We also have quite a larch step with a railing around it outside the front door and would quite like to pop something out there, but i'm not sure what. Has anybody bought anything new this year yet?
Or ideas would be welcome, as i'm the least creative person in the universe.

Thank you Smile

I have my eye on a Christmas train (to go around the tree) on Cox&Cox but I don't need it as we already have one for the main real tree, it's more a case of "wanting" than actual necessity and I have also seen two beautiful lanterns in a local gardening centre, again I don't need them but yeah I am likely going to break and buy the train and the lanterns.

We have garlands on our fireplace/all of the banisters, a wreath on the front door and two little trees outside at either side of the front door in beautiful ceramic black pots with big red bows, the trees themselves have Robins perched at the top.

I hate tinsel but my family like it, so may have to buy some new stuff but other than as mentioned I don't think I will buy any other decorations this year.

We have always had homemade decorations on the tree - bundles of cinnamon sticks, slices of dried orange studded with cloves and pine cones. But this year I have bought some baubles from nkuku, which I had never heard of before but clearly my targeted ads know my taste, they are small multicoloured baubles made with recycled glass and have sari ribbon to hang them. This is our first Christmas at home just the three of us, so we haven't had much need for loads of decorations before as we spent the Christmas period between relatives houses. I'm looking for some nice stockings at the moment but that's all I've got planned.

Ohh Rushian I've been looking for some lovely keepsake type stockings too.
It's the first year our 3 year old is starting to understand it all more, we haven't decided what we'll do in terms of which presents Santa brings whether it's just stockings etc.

I completely understand wagtail, if I've seen something i keep thinking about, 9 times out of ten I'll go back for it.Grin
We've just bought a new build and I'm already missing our old house with the beautiful fire place for times like this! But garlands on the stairs are a good idea! I'm with you in the tinsel, I think my problem is we're lacking in shelves too, so no where to pop little festive bits throughout the house if you see what I mean.
