Help with present!

Hoping you love Christmas lovers can point me in the right direction!

A colleague has been amazingly supportive and an incredible help this year (it's been a very difficult year at work) and I'd love to get them a present but I'm a bit stumped as to what to buy.

She hates receiving presents so don't want it to be something too over the top - more a token thank you gift that will be left on her desk in the run up to the office closing for Christmas.

She doesn't drink alcohol, is mid-40s, likes hot chocolate but brings her own in from home, loves sweets, joke books etc, and also is a running coach.

I'm a bit stuck as was going to go with a hot chocolate kit and some jelly sweets but then thought that was a bit naff and not very thoughtful as she brings her own in etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What about a joke a day calendar?

Those hot chocolate spoons are a much nicer version than normal got chocolate (or some are). Some of those with sweets and a joke book would be lovely. I think someone actually noticing what you like versus a generic bottle of wine is special. You could always wrap it into a nice mug - the supermarkets have them for just a couple of pounds - same price as a gift bag.

I'd go with a mug, some of those jelly sweets inside and a joke book, or as someone else mentioned some fancy hot chocolate. You mentioned she doesn't like gifts etc, but I'd be happy if someone got me something I actually like! It doesn't matter if she buys her own, but it's the thought that counts. You could get her some fancy sweets or fancy hot chocolate.

Thanks all - I love the idea of wrapping something in a mug - and the hot chocolate spoon is a great idea. I also like the idea of the joke a day calendar - and that's something she could put on her desk! You are all ace!!

If for her desk, what about a Poinsettia? Very festive

I like that idea @RockingMyFiftiesNot - I'm sure you can get smaller ones in our local Sainsburys too that could go with the mug gift
