What do your 9yo boys want for Christmas? Mine is talking about iphones...

He's definitely not getting an iphone!

He got a bike last year, and a scooter for his birthday.
We are drowning in lego.
His only other 'want' is Pokemon cards!

What are you planning on getting your 9 year olds?

We thought about fit bits but the junior school doesn't allow kids to wear them, which is understandable really.

I’m in much the same boat - DS wants an xbox or switch (only because some of his classmates have them) but he gets enough screen time on his iPad as it is.

He is getting Lego and ... I dont know. I Got a voucher for the first month free on an American STEM kit so will try and see if its reasonable. He gets Phoenix and loves it. We are also getting him a starter kit for those epic board game things (my DH was into it as a kid, I know nothing about it).

I've got a 9 year old step son and he basically wants to build his own scooter, so hes asked for different parts for it, a game for his xbox which he is apparently fly getting from his mum, and apart from the clothes and trainers. We tried with toys and games the year before last but he never plays with them so stopped buying them

My 10 year old got an echo dot last year. He uses it to listen to audiobooks at night, play music ask questions and it was a lot of fun over the christmas holidays.

@mummyof2boys30 hi - what are the go-pro type cameras you mentioned that you got? I'm on the lookout for one

Carrie76 · 06/10/2019 00:18

@SaveMeBarry these are the ones we have and they’ve gone down very well Laser X

AudacityOfHope · 06/10/2019 00:30

I'm getting mine a stone tumbler and a telescope.

ginforall · 06/10/2019 09:01

Thinking back to what we got DSS at that age and I think it was a go-pro style camera (not the real go-pro make, but a similar cheaper one). He has used it quite a bit and it always comes on holiday with us for use in the sea/pool. Buying for boys that age is so hard, we've no idea what to get DSS now he is 12.

Mine wants his own computer... Not going to happen! He also wants a Switch, which I am undecided about. It would have to be a joint birthday and Christmas present, as it's definitely over our usual budget!
I have been pondering a metal detector, but where we live there are restrictions on where you can actually use them Confused
It's a difficult age!

We bought ds a Google home mini last year (£30 in a sale) and he uses it all day. For music, stories, facts, games, quizzes etc.

This year he's asked for nothing. Again. So, books, pencil case, magazine subscription and some clothes. Maybe a basketball hoop.

mamalovebird · 06/10/2019 09:25

We got 9 year old DS last year, a Nintendo Switch and tickets to a concert.

DS2 is 10 but last year the biggest hit was a hydraulic robot arm. He built it over a few days, probably took about 6 hours total, with a little help from DH on a couple of tricky bits.
