Beauty advent calendars

So I normally get the Boots beauty advent calendar but this year I’m thinking of exploring some others.

Has anyone had a particularly good (or particularly bad!) one? What is the M&S one like?

I loved my M&S one last year - it was my first one and reasonably enough priced so am definitely going for it again this year. Would definitely recommend it.

Love M&S great mix of products

ohmysoul · 27/09/2019 13:21

Agree. I had the M&S one last year and it was fantastic. I will definitely be getting it again this year.

Great - good things about m&s so far then, thanks.

Am I right in thinking you normally get it cheaper if you buy something in m&s at the same time...?

OP there is a very active thread on just this subject on S & B at the mo ... you may find that helpful. Some discount codes flying around on there too.

But for me it's the M & S one and Holland and Barrett I'm after Grin

Yes that's the case I think this year the calendar is £25 with any £40 spend on home, fashion or beauty so is an excellent way to treat yourself whilst buying Christmas presents.

Apparently as it's not classed as a "gift with purchase" if you later return your qualifying spend items you don't have to return the calendar.

Tea there's a couple of good threads in Style&Beauty , with some links to contents , if you want a Spoiler Xmas Wink

Of course , you know they're all full of "land fill plastic tat " ( Well someone will tell you this ) Wink

I do a Beauty advent for my DD , this will be my 3rd one . I bought a nice gift box and some wooden numbers 1-24 and ribbon , so I'll re-use next year (she has decided this is my annual task ) . It forms part of her presents so not a huge extra expense but it gets trickier .

DD only uses Cruelty Free and likes little random things , so I started shopping in Sept !

The M&S one always seems to delight the people on the S&B thread , they do a daily reveal . I don't buy one , I just tag along .

I had last year Mugler Angel 12 day calendar. It had mainly Angel products but some Alien and Muse too. This year they don't do advent calendar but something better, that's what this lady at the counter told me.

From beauty calendars I am interested in M&S. I probably get that if Mugler isn't good or too expensive.

Thanks all!

I shall have a nosy on the s&b board Wink

I’ve just gone for the Clinique one... it’s a bit pricey at £85 although I had a code by email which gave me a free full size moisturiser, 2 mini luxury items plus then as id spent over a certain amount a free beauty bag and 6 free mini products/make up bits which I could choose myself from a selection of 9/10. I’m very pleased with my haul!

banskuwansku · 27/09/2019 19:37

Last Xmas I would have loved to have Clinique calendar but I found a new range I am very happy. I got a free good size sample of Origins and really liked. Now just using rest of the Clinique products and hoping for Origins calendar.

This is a good site, as well as lnd diaries and u tube has lots of unboxing vids www.reallyree.com/?s=advent

In the past ive have

Bomb cosmetics, was ok but products too small
Rituals twice, loved these, perfect way to try a new brand, excellent value for money
Loccitane twice, again loved and great way to try brand
Body shop cheapest, loved this too, some fillers like nail files and brushes but dont mind that
Glossybox last year, amazing value and products, bought this years too and cant wait for it
Clarins, fab products but was only 12 days
Decleor, fab products and good way to try brand

Out of these id recommend rituals and glossybox for great products, sizes and value for money

Waiting until Tuesday so I can buy the space nk one when it’s released. Usually get the Liberty one, it’s beautiful and festive looking but the last 2 years I had it the contents were very samey (same brands not identical products).
The space nk one doesn’t actually look festive at all though which is slightly disappointing!!

I'm a beauty addict and tend to buy 3 a year 🙈🙈 this year I will only be getting one due to finances, new baby coming in the NY.

M&S - brilliant every year. Amazing value for money. You can't not get it really.

MAC- my dd has this one last year. Lots of nice things for make up lovers

Liberty - absolutely amazing! So many full sized products in this one. I've heard that this years is worth over £680 (£215 to buy). I loved nearly every product that was in last years.

Charlotte Tilbury - if you like the make up it's worth getting. Last year I didn't buy this one because I already had quite a few of the contents.

This year the Glossybox one looks great so I may go for that.
