Are they worth the money? My girls have asked for a doll and several accessories each. They look lovely and I'm sure they'll be played with but just wondering if they are worth the money?

if you think they will be played with then i would say yes. have a look on ebay as people sell second hand ones in very very good condition x

DanceDanceDance80 · 21/09/2019 16:20

Thankyou, I was going to go to Smyths if the sale starts this week as they have a good selection there buy I'll check out ebay too. Thanks!

They are lovely dolls, very good quality. My DD has one and it gets played with regularly.

Barbarara · 21/09/2019 18:58

The hair is very good quality. It doesn’t tangle nearly as much as other dolls and I think that makes a huge difference when playing with them.

You can pick up cheaper accessories. Argos do a similar sized doll called Design a Friend and I think Tesco do an 18” doll as well.

We have two of the dolls and they are hreat quality. We had a couple of the sets, a scooter snd a gynmast one and they are well made but most of our clothes for them are from amazon. They have been hit snd miss but for building up a wide choice for play they have been fantastic. They tend to be the toy other children like to play with when they visit too.

Very popular in my house with two girls.

Try tkmaxx for cheaper dolls & clothes set.

SleepyPaws · 21/09/2019 22:16

Very popular with my nearly 6yr old, this will be the 3rd year she's asked for something. Her current favourite is the wheelchair set!

RightMover · 21/09/2019 22:23

My dd has loads of our generation stuff, dolls and accessories. Really good quality and decent in terms of value for money.

DanceDanceDance80 · 21/09/2019 22:49

Ah thankyou. That's fab! The wheelchair set is on the list already along with a few other requests!

I'm not sure about the quality difference but I think the faces on the Design a Friend are much much more appealing and less creepy. Anyone have any reviews for them?

snowmanshoes · 22/09/2019 09:05

my dd has the design a friend dolls and we haven't had any issues with the hair matting or anything but obviously I give them a proper brush every now and then! The Our Generation seem to have a wider variety of accessories but as for the actual doll you can't go wrong with the Argos ones.
I've also seen the entertainer advertising similar dolls but haven't actually seen them other than on posters etc.

Stompythedinosaur · 22/09/2019 10:29

I came on to suggest Design a Friend as a cheaper alternate too, my dc have been very pleased with theirs.

Keepsmiling1 · 22/09/2019 10:56

We started off with an American Girl doll (which are very expensive) and my DD has played with it for the past 2/3 years. She has now got 2 Our Generation dolls and I can't tell the difference between them. She plays with them a lot and we have lots of accessories like beds, couches, clothes etc. I think they are really good.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 22/09/2019 12:11

My DD really wants the camping set but it's no longer available at Smyths and is £30 on Amazon..seems a bit much for a tiny tent and a sleeping bag Hmm The dolls themselves are lovely though.

joggerbottom · 24/09/2019 20:27

OG dolls have no plastic packaging if you are looking for pros and cons.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 29/09/2019 13:24

I've just bought the designafriend Glamping Set from Argos to go with the Our Generation Doll DD(6) will be getting from her GP's. It's £17 reduced from £30, it looks lovely.
