Struggling with ideas dd10

Just that really. Need the 'main present' idea. Doesn't help that birthday is in December so lots of ideas needed.
She could do with a new tablet as she has an old Amazon basic one so was pondering on the hd one as they seem decent and she knows how to use it.
Always said I wouldn't let her have a TV in her bedroom but considering it (prepared to get flamed haha)
She is a good studious girl and I think I'd limit screen time as I do now but I know she would be very happy with a TV/dvd for her room.
Otherwise I'm stumped. She has lots of Lego, sewing machine, crafts. Shelves and shelves of books plus a kindle.
Stuck.

I would do a tv in the bedroom personally.

Dd will be 9.5 at Christmas snd I'm going to try and get her strictly tour tickets because she loves it. I could buy her a million things actually. Other things she's getting or got for her birthday:

Black converse hi tops
Tickets to see the cursed child and overnight stay in London
Full sized keyboard (just started piano)
She loves any clothes usually from Zara, primark, H&M
She would love an iPad but isn't getting none
A lovely desk for homework etc
A garmin activity tracker (like a Fitbit but better for kids)

Sumlove · 14/09/2019 08:05

Sounds like our dds would get on lol. Family member is getting strictly tickets. Been before and she loved it. Already got the kids Garmin for Xmas or birthday the flowery one.
But she is into clothes and likes her sports so some bits like that. She plays Minecraft on her current Amazon tab and is happy with that so not over keen on going down the gaming route.
So difficult!

I've found it harder to get a big present but easy to get lots of smaller things. I would love to get her the Mary poppins afternoon tea at the shard but it's ££££

my dd is 10 (turns 11 in November) for her birthday and Christmas on our list of ideas and things we've got,
slipknot tickets (her first gig and me/dh are massive fans!) so will get her a t-shirt and a mask that she wants.
funko pop figures - mostly marvel and Harry potter.
Harry potter lego.
pusheen clothing and teddies that she collects.
Pokemon build a bear.
new headphones.
new backpack/lunch bag for school (we replace at Christmas rather than in September!)

when her tablet broke we gave her dh's old phone. (just a nokia smart phone years old) we put in a SIM card so she has WhatsApp to talk to us when on Wi-Fi and can play all her games/watch YouTube. we figured once she starts walking to school alone next year she will need a phone and a tablet would be unnecessary as everything she did on her Amazon fire she can do on her phone. so personally I wouldn't upgrade a tablet if you are planning a phone in the near future.

@WreckTangled if she loves Converse and Harry Potter have you checked out the Harry Potter Vans collection? They have some gorgeous sparkly blue hogwarts high tops that’s I would definitely have bought for myself if they didn’t stop at size 3!

WreckTangled · 14/09/2019 11:16

I find vans a bit heavy! Plus the converse I got were much cheaper Grin and they match mine

Sumlove · 14/09/2019 11:41

My dd is a size 5 - all the fun shoes stop at 2 or 3 🙄 and more expensive!

We’re doing tv for the bedroom for dd 11 and ds 12 for xmas this year. It will be Netflix/Amazon Prime/Now TV stuff only so we can control what they’re viewing.

missyB1 · 14/09/2019 11:47

My ds will be 11 at Christmas (also has birthday in December!) he’s getting
New bike
Rollerblades
New headphones
Lava lamp for bedroom
Lo Lo ball (a sort of ball they stand on and hop).

Sumlove · 14/09/2019 11:49

yes we have Amazon prime so was going to get a fire stick if I got her one.
And we already have Netflix so she would just have her profile. Sometimes when she has friends round and they want to watch something I'm like 🙄
She has a lot on with extra curricular things so thought it would be nice for her down time.
I've just always been a bit 😬 about TVs in kids rooms.
How will you limit being able to access unsuitable channels etc?

OrangeJustice · 14/09/2019 11:53

We won’t be connecting it to the main tv ariel and will set up age restrictions on the streaming apps.

Sumlove · 14/09/2019 13:48

Yes we have controls on Amazon stick and Netflix already.
The TV I saw has Freeview, does that have restrictions? Never used it before so no clue!

@Sumlove you are best to get a smart tv. My daughter can access Netflix and Amazon prime on her tv. My daughter was 13 in May ☺️🎄
