Christmas episodes of TV programmes (adults)?

Wasn't sure whether to ask this in Telly Addicts or here, but figured that here would be slightly less subject to 99 posts of "It's SEPTEMBER!!!".

What I really enjoy at Christmas is watching the Christmas episodes of long running programmes, especially nice gentle ones. I was hoping to compile a list of ideas so I could watch them during December when I'm sofa-bound with a newborn.

So far I have on my list (some i've seen before, some i haven't):

Downton Abbey - Last episode of Series 2 & 5
Upstart Crow - 2x Christmas episodes
The Good Life - Christmas Special
All Creatures Great and Small - Merry Gentlemen
Call the Midwife - 7x Christmas Specials (!)
Return to Cranford
Poirot - Hercule Poirot's Christmas

Can anyone add any more?

The Birds of a Feather Christmas Specials, old and new, were always good fun. The Office two parter was really good too..the second part especially felt very Christmassy.

Gavin and Stacey

Only fools and horses Christmas specials. My favourite is the Christmas episode from season 1.

OOh, thank you all - all going on the list. Also, I've just remembered the Christmas Blackadder where Edmund gets steadily more and more Scrooge-like throughout the programme.

Love Vicar of Dibley Christmas ones. The one where Alice gives birth and the multiple Christmas Dinner ones! Rewatch them every year 😊 I'm not remotely religious but find them hilarious.

Having and Stacy, there’s going to be a new Christmas episode too!
Friends.

The Royal Family

Oh yes, Vicar of Dibley. I like the Richard Armitage ones. For the acting, you understand.

StudentHelp · 12/09/2019 14:56

Friends - the holiday armadillo is one that came to mind Grin

I used to like the christmas episodes in Ally Mcbeal but don't think that's what you're after is it as it's not technically a "christmas special."

The ones we watch every year are:
Men Behaving Badly
Vicar of Dibley
Gavin and Stacey
Morecombe and Wise
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (an acquired taste!)
Mr Bean

Always catch The Simpsons ones too.

If you like British comedy try The Flint Street Nativity. It was a BBC one off at Christmas and has a great cast of comedians (Ralph Little, Jane Horrocks, Neil Morrisey) playing kids putting on the Christmas nativity. It’s a must watch every year.

Gavin and Stacey
Royle Family
Vicar of Dibley and the 3 Christmas lunches😂😂

Bellybootcut · 12/09/2019 19:37

I think Gavin and Stacey is possibly the best. Along with Blackadders Christmas Carol.

ifigoup · 12/09/2019 19:41

Depends if you like darker stuff, but the episode of Inside No 9 called “The Twelve Days of Christine” is amazing.

Yes to The Office and to Gavin and Stacey.
