Opinion Please re letters to Santa

Hi All,

I work for a business who massively support UK charities. I've had an idea for this Christmas, to provide a service whereby children can send their letter to santa (to us) and we send a personalised reply in the post. The service would be totally free for parents (although they would need to create a user account on the website) and for every letter we receive we would make a cash donation to a charity of the parent's (or child's) choice. No catch to this (i know - it sounds too good to be true).

So my question to you - would you use it? Is there a better way? Do you know of something already?

Any opinions very gratefully received!

Thanks, Sarah

That sounds like a lovely idea.
There are lots of companies that do something similar (without the charity giving). Some charge and you get a lovely letter but the Royal Mail one is free. Your letter is lovely, but not overly personal.
Good luck with it

I dont understand why they aren’t just donating anyway if they’re not gaining anything from doing the letters? It sounds good but I don’t really understand why bother?

We're trying to get people engaged with the business as we provide a way for people to earn free donations for charity with their everyday purchases etc at no cost to them.

To be honest, it can be quite a tough sell as people think it being free is too good to be true! (understandable)

So we're trying to come up with an innovative christmas campaign but we think it needs to be giving individuals something (in this case the free personalised response) to get them to want to take part.

In that case then yes it’s a good idea- just make sure people know the only “catch” is raising awareness of the business? So they don’t think it’s too good to be true?
