Hi everyone,

Where have your favourite panettone been from?

I had an amazing chocolate one last year from tkmaxx. Best I've ever had. But realise i probably won't be able to get the same one this year plus the fact I can't even remember what it looks like or what the brand was

So looking for some recommendations.

Thank you 😊

Lidl. I don't know if they do chocolate ones (an abomination, in my view!), but I've found the classic ones I buy to be great.

@Optimist1 I've never tried an original one 🙈🙈 what's the flavour?

I work with an Italian man and he swears by Wilko. He brings them into work every year . I’m no expert but they are delicious.

Optimist1 · 25/08/2019 09:20

@Whitecandle - sweet like a brioche (but texture is less dense) with dried fruit and candied peel.

@Optimist1 oh sounds lovely. May have to get one of each. The chocolate one is swirled with like a chocolate ganache. It's not actually chocolate flavoured bread.

@SpeckledyHen ooh. Maybe I will give this one a try. He is Italian after all 💁‍♀️

Harvey Nicks is the best I've had over the last few years. Amazing flavour, light and soft.

I was given a HN one last Christmas, Peri - but IMHO it didn't beat the Lidl version!

Looks like I'll have to get both then this year and report back with my verdict in the New Year Grin

I've bought reasonable ones from Aldi and Asda but we were given one from Carluccio's which was amazing.

I bought a Lemon one a couple of years back , I think Lidl, I don't go there often but I was trying to visualise the shop .

It was lush I tell you , little pockets of lemon curd in a light lemony base .
Couldn't get anything like it last year (unless I wanted to pay £30 + on one I saw online)

Costco have them in tins , I see people buying multiples of them . Not tried one yet , they are huge .

I had to improvise with a Sainsbury one and a pot of lemon curd last year Xmas Grin

No chocolate or fruit in mine thanks , just plain or lemon

The chocolate one from Costco is amazing, I buy them for the whole family each year. They are selling them already and it's soo tempting to pick one up.
