Hi All

DD will be 5 a few weeks before Christmas. She loves making things drawing painting etc so wss thinking of including a craft box for her birthday with some bits she could make for Christmas.

What craft box essentials should I add to the box?

Glitter (or glitter glued if you can’t stand the mess), gold and silver pens, some nice card, ribbon, glue, sequins, stickers, maybe some kits from baker Ross? They do foam crafts for things like Christmas

There’s some nice things in the Christmas section of the Baker Ross website. I’ve bought some of the scratch art things for my kids
Also, Hobbycraft do paint your own candle holders. My boys did a Christmas tree and a Father Christmas last year

My 6yo DD loves this. She uses it to make tree decorations, present tags and signs around the house. A pile of old Christmas cards to cut up with pinking shears works a treat.

Have a look in The Works if you have one near you. Nearer the time they will have pads of christmassy paper/card and self-adhesive bits and pieces that children love.

You could also collect pine cones now to put in. My DD really enjoyed decorating those with glitter glue.

Do you have any left-over Christmas paper napkins? They are good for decoupaging onto card or boxes. I saved any white shoe boxes or delivery boxes last year and DD decoupaged Christmas napkins onto them to create gift boxes and treasure boxes. They looked very effective.

I saw something on fb recently forum the studio which looked like a big box full of christmas stickers, ribbons etc... it was £12 so not bad even if you popped every thing in your own nicer box. Never ordered from there though so not sure what the quality is like.

The range always have some lovely Christmas crafts for kids for cheap. Make sure you have a big pva glue as that gets used up really quickly in our house. Some Christmas coloured poster paints. Sequins, pom poms, stickers, card, scissors, craft kits, buttons, colouring books. Also I buy loads of Christmas craft sets in the sales and save them for the following Christmas.
