What stocking fillers have you bought so far?

Just wondered if a thread on stocking fillers only might be useful? Separates the little bits from the bigger gifts. I always struggle with what to put in my toddler's stocking. So far, I've purchased the wooden cars recommended on the other thread - www.amazon.co.uk/Jerryvon-Wooden-Vehicles-Smooth-Toddlers/dp/B07MXDGNGJ - and that's it! But I'm starting now...

OP posts:

My dc are 10, 9 & 7 now & popular stocking fillers have been:

Character pants & socks
Magic flannel
Bubble bath or bath bombs
Money
Lego blind bags or mini sets
Torch
Compass
Magazine or book
Mini can of coke
Mini pringles

I haven't bought anything for stockings yet & 10 (almost 11) & 9 yr old are no longer into 'character' items (unless it's Harry Potter!) So their stockings will be more body spray, lip gloss, sports socks etc.

MrsLem · 12/08/2019 15:11

Last year I bought some Lanka Kade animals and my 2 year old loves them now so I'll be buying more for his stocking. Also I'll add the cars and things like a toothbrush, facecloth, bubble bath, play-doh and art supplies

Equimum · 13/08/2019 08:21

When my eldeast was tiny au used to put wooden musical instruments in. By three, he loved giant magnets, magnifying glasses, kaleidoscopes, trains for wooden trainset, Hotwheels cats, big eye viewers etc.

This year, DSs will be 4 & almost 7. So far I have bought UNO, periscope, some Tinc some natural wood pencils and some small china mugs. I will also be ordering personalised baking aprons. Other items will probably include Pokemon cards (if they still like them) and maybe a small Lego set/ Playmobil character each. I’m trying to cut back on novelties and plastic, and to use Christmas to buy things they need/ will last.

ChristmasInJuly · 13/08/2019 08:27

Not bought anything yet but planning on;
DS - chocolate coins, satsuma, 3 Hot Wheels cars, Hey Duggee stickers, UNO card game
DD - chocolate coins, satsuma, hair bows, bubbles, Gruffalo stickers, 3 bath toys

Allthepinkunicorns · 13/08/2019 08:29

So far I've got ds:
Grow your own Christmas tree (amazon)
Glow sticks
Lego blind bags
Christmas socks
Christmas pants
Stationary again Christmas themed
Christmas pez dispensers (I got them last year and they are still in date)
And a few small games from tiger

I will get chocolate and sweets closer to Christmas.

duckling84 · 13/08/2019 08:32

I've cheated this year and bought 3 prefilled stockings from Hawkins bazaar in the sale. Still need to do teen dds stocking though. She's currently got a pair of fluffy socks and I could really do with some inspiration.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 13/08/2019 15:52

DD is 6 in December. So far I've bought

A colour changing pencil case
Some scented felt tip pens
A unicorn snap band
A 5 pack of pants with unicorns on them
A Build a Bear mermaid costume

MrsLem · 13/08/2019 18:31

After the baker Ross clearance suggestion on another thread I've added a few Christmas stickers to the stocking pile!

unexpectedthird · 13/08/2019 18:39

Some bits from the Tinc sale for both older kids.
Christmassy socks.
Hair clips & a bow for DD.
Mini Polly Pocket for DD.
A wooden toy car for unborn baby.

DerbyRacer · 13/08/2019 18:54

I am struggling with what to buy for ds this year. He will be 11. Some good ideas on here. He would definitely like a mini can of coke. I would never have thought of that. Grow your own Christmas tree sounds interesting.

sideorderofchips · 13/08/2019 18:54

Some earrings for the girls

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/08/2019 19:48

How far into her teens is your DD @duckling84 ?

I have older DDs (now both in their 20's but still at home) and they usually have:
Matching bra and pants (the step up from character undies)
Christmas themed socks or slipper socks
Make up: foundation, eyeliner, concealer (their usual brands but it saves them buying them themselves)
Chocolate

This year I have bought pencils (from LaLaLand) with quotes from their favourite shows. Compact mirrors (from Rex London)

I've also got smokey eye palettes from the Revolution sale that will either go in their stockings or be in their main present pile - it depends if the stocking needs more to fill it.

Last year I bought name labels from eBay to personalise jars of Nutella and I might do that again. A surprise stocking filler hit was a magazine relevant to their interests.

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/08/2019 19:50

@DerbyRacer there was a mention on the bargain thread a while back of Star Wars origami and Star Wars paper planes. Would that interest your DS?

Charlottejade89 · 14/08/2019 16:35

nothing bought yet, but planning on make up, face pack etc, nail varnish, phone power bank and can of some kind of alcohol for dsd 16
spray and shower gel, wallet, power bank, headphones, tshirt and xmas socks, alcohol for dss 17
spray, rubik's cube, shirt, xmas socks and who knows what else for Dss 9
wooden toy camera, hair clips, head bands, leggings and top, pjs for dd 1
all will be topped up with chocolate coins etc

louise5754 · 14/08/2019 16:54

I'm not bothering this year. I just think all the money I spend on crappy little bits can go towards one bigger present. Obviously if it's things they want or need then that's different but I can't stick to that.

DerbyRacer · 14/08/2019 17:49

@TheWoolybackswife thank you for the suggestion :) Yes, my ds would like them I will look I to it.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 15/08/2019 13:26

Dd will be 18 months at Christmas and she has a couple of Lanka Kade and holztiger animals. I've also got 2 of the 123 Playmobil people sets for her.

Ds who will be nearly 5 has a Knight (St Louis to be exact) to join his large collection of Papo knights/dragons etc and 2 playmobil knights.

lotusbell · 28/08/2019 15:46

Bath bomb, Christmas socks, Terry's chocolate orange (obviously), mini puzzle, chocolate coins, Lego mini figure/blindbox type toy, Christmas tree decoration maybe?

Curious2468 · 28/08/2019 21:22

Stockings are my favourite and I always go a bit ott. I like random science curiosities, sensory toys, small books, stationary, Japanese sweets, beanie boos etc

MarshmallowManiac · 29/08/2019 00:59

Mine sounds similar to yours Lotusbell also throw in chocolate coins, voucher for Starbucks, American sweets, and different little things that each one would like Smile

Cherryrainbow · 29/08/2019 15:44

Honestly I think I'm going to struggle, my son's birthday is in October and I've got stuck after listing 3 things to get him! Lol

My boyfriend and I are doing a £5 challenge based on what I used to do with housemates. You can spend a fiver on 5 random things from the poundshop and try and make it as silly/ fun/ useful/ interesting as you can so that could result in some interesting stocking fillers lol

CoffeeChocolateWine · 30/08/2019 11:46

The only thing I’ve bought so far is the Sleeping Queens card game for my DD (7). However my vague plan is...
DS (11)
Hair gel
Body spray
Wallet as he’s recently lost his 🙄
Book but not sure what yet
Chocolate orange
Alarm clock
Probably stationary of some kind
Couple of other bits

DD1 (7)
Sleeping Queens
Bath bomb
Nail polish
Lip gloss
Book
Pants
Choc orange
Stationary
Couple of other bits

DD2 (18 months)
Bubble bath
Magic flannel
Soft toy
Chocolate of some kind
Book
Item of clothing
Not sure what else yet but it’s a start 😊

CoffeeChocolateWine · 30/08/2019 11:47

Was also planning to my DS a poster...

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 30/08/2019 12:10

A poster is a super idea, I'm adding that to my list!

Gustavo1 · 30/08/2019 14:15

I have just started. I tend to get the children similar things but varied based on age. So far they have a small Lego set, a playmobil blind bag, a picture book and a robo spider each. They also get a choc Santa, choc coins, selection box and a Lindt reindeer!
