I've Finally Given In And Gone Modern. Show Me Your Tinsel-Less Trees?

I usually decorate everywhere for Christmas (Loo included! Grin ). If it sits still long enough it gets tinsel on it! After seeing (Quite) a few posts on here I realised I was having an 80's decorated theme. (Lots of different coloured tinsel, multi-coloured Christmas tree lights, green red and gold ornaments, all different tree ornaments.) However, I saw an episode of Escape to the Chateau last year and they had a gorgeous large tree. It was decorated in silver beads and crystal droplets. I've taken inspiration from that and have decided to go modern I will have a theme of white, crystal and silver. I have bought quite a few decorations for the tree so far and am going to get white lights for the tree. (Green tree, need a new topper too. Any suggestions?)
However, after watching The Stickman and Arthur Christmas last night and seeing all the colourful lights and decorations I felt myself chickening out! Can I really do a tinsel-less tree, can I really go monotone and not multicoloured?! Help, I'm having a wobble! Shock Can you post a picture of your tinsel-less/low low tinsel trees and decorations please to inspire me and get my head back in the game!
Than you! Xmas Grin

oh but if every thread and poster operated on that basis there'd be no mumsnet would there?!

(fwiw OP, I just splurged at White Company and have a lovely tasteful christmas tree. Very expensive).

If you really can't make your own orange slices, look for places with florist and wreath supplies coming up to Christmas - I got a large bag of those and of cinnamon on sticks in them.ocal garden centre in November 2 years ago. They also had pine cones and apple slices as well.

Asian stores may also have a large bags of cinnamon sticks, and other spices you could thread like cardamom pods or cloves to push into oranges.

We bought a gorgeous new tree in the Christmas sale last year and I'm really looking forward to using it for the first time. I've never even thought of not using tinsel but I'm intreaged now. Might dress it up without and see what I think. Definitely need to buy more decorations because it's much larger than the old tree.

The description of what you're planning sounds really nice. Don't know why you're getting stick for posting about Christmas in the Christmas section.

No tinsel in sight (sadly). Our giant glass baubles are pretty cool though, if I do say so myself!

We have two trees: the lounge one which is the no tinsel tree and the dining room one which is the kids' tree. They're slightly different beasts!

I'm not a fan of tinsel; it gets in my way. The kids love it though!
